Feature requests

Tell us here what features you would like to see in upcoming releases of Enpass.

  1. Started by Ivarson,

The functionality in the watch app is sufficient, but it's the only app I use on my watch that doesn't provide dark theme. That would look way nicer and also save battery on the watch

  2. Started by rburgst,

When using the global system shortcut to bring up the assistant and copy a password (or username or whatever), it would be nice to have the option to auto hide the enpass window. This way you can quickly lookup a password for use within an application (e.g. iterm). It would be great to have this as a configuration option.

  3. Started by Elias,

I would like to suggest to add several buttons to the extension menu. It will be really nice that we could directly copy password/TOTP and email address in the extension menu instead of clicking information to access in a subpage. The reason is that in some website autofill has some problems, with these buttons the workflow will be much better. One of the example is Bitwarden's interface. I'm aware of the shortcut, but it is not as handy as the buttons.

  4. Started by Ivarson,

The possibility to add a Checkbox as a field type would enrich Enpass slot, it's easy to add a secure note, but with checkbox as an option it would even smoother to add shopping lists or whatever, especially when using a shared vault. Having appear also on my Wear OS watch would be awesome (the Notes field doesn't show on Watch, one has to add a multi-line using the watch)

  5. Could Enpass consider modifying the names of the App folder and enpasssync and enpassattach files stored inside a user’s chosen cloud-stored folder? Although the files are encrypted, if a user’s Google, OneDrive etc. cloud account was hacked, an Enpass app folder containing an Enpass vault and attachments, does make it a more obvious target for hackers, than if the folder and files were given more obscure names. Currently, the folder and file names make it obvious which app was used to create the files. My suggestion is not about additional encryption, but purely a ‘masking’ of the folder and file names to better hide them, if a user’s cloud account was hacked. …

  6. I never get any. Yes I check my spam folder. So far the only reliable support method has been the forum which I don't mind.

  7. Saving an attachment in Enpass invokes an 'Save File' window. For the Windows version the default folder offered for the file to be saved into is always 'C:\Windows\System32'. For the macOS version the default save-into-folder is set to the user account home directory. These default settings are typically never the folders you want to save into. So you are always forced to navigate to the folder of your choice. During the same Enpass session the last selected folder at least will be remembered ... I think Enpass should always store the last folder into which an attachment was saved - even between subsequent invocations of Enpass.

  8. It would be awesome if you could select / show all entries with a specific tag in the browser extension (in chrome), as they enable an easy way to organize and group elements without messing with categories.

  9. Even if you show the password of an entry in "Big Mode" font size is really small. I would appreciate if there is a way to show password even bigger, maybe customer could define font size in settings etc.

  10. Adding a second existing vault to Enpass from the cloud is a pain, especially on mobile devices. One has to insert the cloud credentials, the cloud url, and the vault password. However, I normally have all this info in one item of my primary enpass vault. I envision a feature where I can select an item within enpass and setup a second vault from this item. Process: Settings > Vault > New > From existing item > Match elements of items, select cloud provider > Finished This would also simplify the process of sharing a vault with someone else: Create a pre-shared key and send via secure channel Send encrypted enpass item containing cloud …

  11. Started by laptopleon,

I was pleasantly surprised that the Linux version (Ubutnu 20.04) of Enpass is compatible with iCloud. This was not so clear to me from the manual etc. Edit 220310: On second view, it's not so compatible. The browser auto fill option doesn't work. Anyway, about all these feature requests: You often say you will take them into consideration etc. And we all understand that the developers time is limited and is first of all used for keeping up with the regular updates of os-es and fixing bugs. Therefore, it seems only fair to be more open en upfront about this. Why not put all feature requests in a list and let the (registrated) public vote which they think is…

  12. Not sure if you were aware, but Grammarly for Windows, a replacement for their desktop editor, is an app that detects and corrects text entries in almost any application. On trying the app, I discovered that entering text into the Enpass desktop software 6.7.4 (935) and browser extension (6.7.4) was detected by Grammarly! While the text I entered into Enpass did not appear in the Grammarly app it certainly recognized I was (A) using an app and (B) was entering text. The unknown is whether the text entered is still registered by Grammarly (i.e. sent to their servers), and simply not displayed, or whether it truly can't 'see' what I'm typing. While a user can manually …

  13. In some cases, some passwords are not up to us (ie when it's for testing websites or work - like i have a password that's "super" secure - 1234, but i can't change it and it's behind a challenge anyway). It would be nice to have the ability to move something from "weak" and ignore it.

  14. The ability to create multiple vaults is extremely useful, but maintaining identical entries, across several vaults, is time-consuming and or prone to error. As a feature consideration, if every entry copied from the Primary vault, to a secondary vault, could be internally linked, any update made to that entry would automatically update the matching entry in all other vaults. The most flexible, would be two-way syncing where an entry can be updated via any vault, Primary or Secondary. But possibly a more stable approach, would be to treat the Primary vault as the master, so only when an entry is updated via the Primary vault, would it then synchronize that chang…

  15. Started by Melvin,

It would be great if enpass had the ability to generate usernames and email addresses. That would help users be more secure while increasing their privacy online. I currently generate my usernames using https://www.spinxo.com. It works well but it's an extra step I wish I didn't have to do. For emails, we could have a list of custom domain and a list of address that supports the + format. Like "mydomain.tld" and "myname@gmail.com". When adding a new login, we'd have the ability to pick an address/domain from this list and enpass would generate a unique address based on the selection. Like "[something-random]@mydomain.com" and "myname+[something-random]@gmail.com…

  16. Hi... 1. there is option to sync individual vaults to our device storage BUT if we restore from that backup then then why attachments aren't getting restored 2. Atleast there should be option to sync all Vaults together to a device folder

  17. Started by Ivarson,

In the android app, one can create a Note, and then add sections and fields afterwards. When you're on the road, it's quick to just add a note with relevant text. When there's spare time, one might organize the item with adding fields and such. But in the desktop apps, you don't get any options to add fields. In order to be able to add field to an item after creation, one has to use the template "Misc >>Other". Suggestion: make it possible to add sections and fields to a Note also on desktop versions Enpass: 6.8.1 Android 11/Windows 11

  18. Started by DennisT,

When I'm tagging one or multiple entries and I Add Tags there isn't a pulldown list with auto search, IE as type the tag name the list of available tags is limited to those that start with what I enter.

  19. Many sites limit what symbols can be used for a password. This characteristic for a password is already addressed by EnPass by the Include/Exclude option for Symbols in the password generator. However, it is very common where sites limit the symbols that can be used in the password to just those symbols across the top of an en-us keyboard: !@#$%^&*()_+ It would be nice if in the password generator there was a third option in addition to Include and Exclude called something like "Basic" that would just default to these symbols.

  20. Started by Rojma,

EnPass for Windows (Windows Store version) does not seem to have a built-in viewer for viewing attachments of basic file types including PDF, JPG, PNG, etc. I would like to request for this feature to be added similar to how the phone apps have them. This would mean I could just view the document within EnPass instead of having to download the attachment, find where the attachment was downloaded to, then opening the attachment to view in an external viewer.

  21. When typing in the master password to log into EnPass, there is no View Password button to make sure that you are typing in the password correctly. When typing a long and complicated password on a touchscreen on a phone or tablet where errors are common, this makes it very frustrating since you can't check to make sure the password was typed in correctly. Yes, the digit typed in appears momentarily when you enter it in, but it then disappears after a second. This also is not the same as being able to see the WHOLE password typed in so far. This is mainly an issue when first configuring EnPass since after that I usually use biometrics, but it makes that initial setup very …

  22. Everything is in the title. Icedrive.net is very interesting because it has generous free plan (100GB) and is encrypted. I would prefer to avoid non encrypted cloud services as an extra layer of security. Thank you.

  23. Basically what the title says. It's really annoying that the popup is showing on load.

  24. After using 1Password for many years, I paid for Enpass in hopes it would be a suitable replacement but have run into multiple usability issues. I would like to know if I am missing some functionality or settings to improve my experience. - No true background daemon. Instead Enapss requires a Menu Item be visible and a persistent app running that can be accidentally Quit if it is inadvertently brought to the front. - The keyboard shortcut opens a fresh instance of the auto-fill window despite the browser being the foreground app. There is no contextual awareness that the browser is open and on a login page, requiring the user to manually click on the browser Enp…
