Hi Enpassians! We know our Portable users have been waiting to get the v6 update quite a long time as they are facing compatibility issues with the data on v5 of Portable Apps and v6 of the Stable apps. I am sorry that took it more time than expected as we were busy in improving and stabilizing the v6, but it's finally here! The first beta of Enpass v6 for the Portable apps has been out, and you can get it from the download links given later in the post. The complete changelog for this beta is: What’s New Multiple Vaults: We are very excited to have the support of more than one vault in Enpass to collaborate with our family and team members, keeping our personal data separate in Primary vault. It was one of the most demanded features from you guys. You can share a vault with others by syncing through a common cloud account where each vault need a distinct cloud account to sync. Just go ahead, and give it a try! Secure Sharing: Every single item that you want to share with others can now be encrypted with a passphrase (call it Pre-Shared Key). You can create PSKs from the Advanced Settings of Enpass after which an additional option to Encrypt with PSK will appear while sharing the item. You need to share the PSK prior with the intended recipient to enable them to import in their Enpass. Please use a different medium to share the PSK than you’ll use to share the item. -“Keys are always kept hidden from the locks” ;-). Enpass Assistant: The minified Enpass is now called Enpass Assistant (Formerly Helper). It offers excellent autofilling experience with browser extensions, and you can invoke it from a Keyboard shortcut or System Menu bar. Always run Enpass Assistant in docked mode: From now onwards, you can stick the Enpass Assistant on the screen, and it won’t disappear when you click outside it. You can enable it from Enpass General settings under the Behavior section. Also, once the Enpass Assistant is opened, you can use the Keyboard shortcut Shift+Ctrl+ D to stick it on the screen. Keyfile Support: You want to have a super-duper strong master password, huh! Yeah, but memory has a limit to memorize it. No worries, you can use Enpass 6 to let you use Enpass-Keyfile in addition to your master password as a second factor required to unlock the Enpass on every platform. Custom Icons: Let’s you set any image as an icon for an item. Trash & Archive: You know what to do with Trash. Archive those unwanted items which should be skipped while Searching. Identities: Create identities with personal information for auto-filling long, tedious sign-up forms with a single click. Multi-Line Field: It’s a new field type where you can save data in multiple-lines. History of Every Field: Like password fields, you can now see the history of changes in every kind of fields in an item except Notes. Dark theme: Added support for dark mode on macOS Mojave and Linux. A separate section under the ‘Groups’ tab to have a quick look at all TOTPs & Attachments. Added localization support for Afrikaans, Malay, Croatian, Hungarian, Indonesian, Romanian, Slovak and Swedish. Improvements Improved Security: The real stuff!! Enpass 6 comes with far better protection for your data. Check out more about Security on our website. Browser Extensions: The improved browser extensions now offer better auto-filling, auto-capturing, and security. Enpass extension can now autofill in pages with more than two fields. Also, while setting up the first connection with a browser, you would need to pair that first. Tags: Folders in previous Enpass were more or liked Tags, and so we have renamed them to Tags. And yes, they are nested too. Checking Pwned Passwords for Complete Database: Say goodbye to the hassle of checking every single password for pwnage, now you can review the passwords in your entire database with a single click. Improved Password generator and more brutal strength estimator. Again, Security Matters the most! Password Expiry: From now onwards you can set an expiry date to any password field and check for them from the ‘Audit’ tab when they are going to expire. Eight digits TOTP support. Unlike the older version, Password generator has no limitation of five passwords in history. Known Issues: Remember Location: After every fresh start, the app will ask you to select the data location even if you have previously clicked 'Remember Location.' iCloud Synchronization: The Portable versions are missing the iCloud option for the synchronization. Translations: Some strings might be not be localized in the supported languages. For Linux users running 16.04: The app icon isn't displayed in the launcher. For macOS users: Missing the Categories list, and item's icon: After the initial launch of Enpass Portable, the app may not show the Categories List or item's icon. Workaround: Copy the extracted enpassportable and paste it in a new folder or location. Now open the app and it will show the list and icons as expected. Using Safari 12 or later versions: Unfortunately, the Enpass extension for Safari will not work with the Portable versions. The reason is that the Safari App Extension is bound with the app installation. But for Portable versions, there is no such app installation. Workaround: Use any other supported browsers. Download Links Before installing the Beta version, please read the Enpass Portable User Guide. For Linux (.tar.gz): Enpass Portable Beta v6.0.7 For Windows and macOS (.zip): Enpass Portable Beta v6.0.7 Get your hands on this beta version and share your valuable feedback. If there are other improvements you’d like to see, please leave a comment below. Cheers!

Hi, Many apologies for the trouble. We are aware of some issues with the macOS 10.14.4 at the moment. The problem has been identified, and we are working on getting everything back up and running again normally ASAP. We appreciate your patience.

I begrudgingly paid for Enpass on Windows 10 a second time when it was upgraded to Version 6, because I wanted windows Hello support. Face time and the finger print reader work so well on my IOS devices. As you can understand I am more than a little upset that I have been charged a second time for a feature that does not work. Enpass could have at least waited for the feature to work before charging for it. However what has made me particularly angry is the fact that Enpass on my iPhone has bee upgraded to fix a Facetime issue, and then today Enpass on my iPad was updated, and I was not charged again when they were updated to version 6. You have taken more of my money pleas fix Windows hello. Please do not blame Microsoft like you did when the Edge extension would not work. If there are issues with implementing the feature then why did you charge us for it. Pleas fix this or give us a refund.

Hey @Bub_Bit, Thanks for writing in. No! I would like to share that Enpass is tied with Google Play services and can only be downloaded and purchased from the Google Play store. We strongly recommend users to install Enpass only from the respective app stores (Google Play Store in your case) as apps on Store are signed with developer certificates and delivery through it assures that software is genuine and not tempered. While installing Enpass from other websites or stores might put you in trouble of security risk like data theft. Cheers!

Oh god, I'm not the only one! I was wondering why my fan is so loud since some days, now I realised that it's Enpass and I wanted to report it here right now, and saw your comment! Especially when I wake up my Chromebook from suspend, my fan is spinning at 100% for ever, because Enpass is using 100% of the CPU for ever, if I don't reboot my Chromebook! And the Chromebook is getting really really hot! @Vikram Dabas Please fix this fast, the other bugs are just small ones but this one hurts the battery very hard and it's also not great to have my fan's spinning at 100% for ever after suspend.. Edit: I noticed that after I switched off my WIFI the enpass app was instant at 100% and I needed to force close it.

The Enpass Desktop application configured with the Portuguese language does not allow typing of accented characters in the text fields when we try to edit it. However, if we copy any text that contains accented characters and paste in the same text fields, in the Enpass, it allows the insertion of this text normally. How can we do to type accented characters, such as (á, ê, ú), in the Enpass text fields?

Hi All, Microsoft recently introduced the developer preview of its new Microsoft Edge browser. This edition does not support the old Microsoft Edge extensions. The Enpass extension for the new browser would need to be installed from the Chrome Web Store but requires some fixing before it works. We are working closely with the Edge team at Microsoft, and hopefully, the upcoming Enpass v6.1 would bring support for the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge. Meanwhile, you can make the Enpass Chrome extension to work with the app by disabling the "Authorized browser with verified code signature only" option from Enpass Browser settings.

Hi @CaptainBDSC Thanks a lot for showing interest in Enpass Beta program. You can join it from Android Play Store itself via Open Google Play Store on your Chromebook > Search and click Enpass > Scroll down > tap Join under the Join the beta. Wait for some time to get the changes and update reflected in the Store.

Hi, I have been using Enpass for a couple mounth now, after buying the Premium version which is very good. However, I am a bit of a design nerd, and I was quite sad to see that the icon system was not so good, and it seems that I am not the only one: Only a few icons are available by default. Some icons are quite outdated (see the Netflix one). Adding custom icons is long and buggy (the icons size is very messy). We cannot remove custom icons (after trying to add the same icon in various sizes, I got it in almost ten version and found no option to remove them). That is why I have been thinking about the following features, that I think could be good looking and more userfriendly: When new credentials are added, if the field URL is filled, try to catch the favicon and use it as an icon. If the website does not have a favicon, or the URL is not given, just leave the icon empty as it does currently. Added a little "refresh" button when editing a credential, which tries to catch the latest favicon (if the icon was a favicon) For the custom icons, just resize them to the size of the icon displayer. Adding a little cross on our custom icons (so that we can remove them easily) This requires that custom icons ALWAYS have the priority over favicons. I think this is not a huge feature, but it is the kind of details that improves the user experience, even a little (and that design nerdy, like me, will enjoy A LOT). Thanks for reading this!

Hi, Thanks for the feedback. It's been noted and shared with the team.

Hi All, The Favicon feature has already been added to the Enpass app. Please wait for the coming update v6.1 which will bring it. Thank you.

Very nice idea. Many websites already have big favicons (e.g. 152x152) and they would be great for Enpass.

I understand that you do not wish to open-source your product, but I am reluctant to use it because of the fact it is closed-source, the company is based in India (yes, this matters) and there is no information about the development team. Have you considered having an independent 3rd-party audit your source-code on a regular basis as a way to gain credibility without open-sourcing your product? Thanks, Gili

Hi @OLLI_S We are really sorry that you feel this way! You're right- it shouldn't take that long to respond you, and I completely understand how it can be frustrating to receive a late reply, especially when you’re facing some problems. OLLI_S, we always try to resolve the user's problem by guiding them to the proper solution. But from your comment, we did not meet this goal. Your comments are noted, and we will make sure that our valuable customer will not have to wait a long to get the responses. I ask you to allow us another opportunity to serve you, and we will consider it our privilege to have you again with us. Once again, sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience you went through.

I'll just bring this up again... Enpass sadly lost it's ability for full-time Windows Hello support with v6. I would really like you bringing this back asap for devices with TPM since it was very convenient. I hope there is no technical limitation because it's now a bridged Win32 app.

I'm with you on the extra steps here. I've created my own work-around until the Enpass team realizes they need to streamline this process. I created an Item in Enpass that I've labeled "(Basic)" — the parentheses keep it "alphabetized" at the top — that is built on my own pared-down template. Whenever I'm creating a new Item, I just duplicate "(Basic)" and start filling it in, instead of jumping through all the "who cares!" steps. Of course, I'd much prefer that Enpass allow users to choose their own default template so I could turn back on "Ask to Save New Logins" in the browser extension.

Enpass currently works well with the standard TOTP implementation of a numeric, 30 second interval TOTP code which makes it possible to use most services that offer this sort of authentication. Due to it supporting custom digits, it not only works with the standard 6-digit, but also with some different ones like Blizzard's 8-digit authenticator (which I use just fine with Enpass). What Enpass still lacks in this regard is support for custom time interval and also Steam's 5-digit alphanumeric standard. I, for instance, have to use another authenticator for services like 'Twitch' and 'Mercado Livre' which use 7-digit 10-second TOTP codes (which I believe is Authy's own standard) and Steam (I believe Bitwarden is the only one that currently offers working TOTP for all of these). I know there's currently a thread which is a little over 4 months old about Steam's TOTP, but I couldn't find anything regarding custom time intervals in the feature request so I figured I should post it and hope it gets done sometime in the future

Hi, since version 6 (I guess), enpass plays a little sound when logging in. My audio server is Pulse Audio, and playing the sound creates an entry in "pavucontrol" (Playback), which is always "QtPulseAudio:XXXX: QtPulseSample-XXXX-YYYYYYYYY" where XXXX is the PID of the enpass process, and YYYYYYYYYY some random number. Problem is, after the sound has played, these stay there, and pile up after logging in several times. I suspect the application does not close the stream properly when it is finished, that's why it stays there. I'd appreciate if this could be fixed, and the entry removed after playing. Thank you!

Hi @RainerH Thanks, and I will pass your comment to the QA team to check what could be the possible reason for this unexpected behavior.

I've fixed the issue. It seems to be because Windows Defender's anti-malware protection prevented writing to the C: \ USERS \ folder. Turn Ransomware protection off

Now the 27th of March and version 6.0.6 has been released. But entering the password on Safari still does not work! I also think I should look for a reputable password manager who can handle iOS 9.3.5.

Hey guys, We do have plans to release the beta version of Enpass portable by the end of this week. Cheers!

I'm going to repeat myself but please support yubikey feature. IT's pretty simple, yubikco is giving all the API we need to do this: We know that it should be for web app but if you say was the ONLY usecase then -> we wouldn't use it to auth in windows 7 locally -> we wouldn't use it to auth in keepass locally -> we wouldn't use it to auth to QubesOS and decrypt the device LOCALLY Should I continue? Yubikey CAN and SHOULD be used to decrypt encrypted assets in ALLL password manager. We should never pretend to know better since there are always better version of ourselves and in this case it's also true. If theoreticians of security and cryptology use it then we should too. simple as that.

This is very disappointing. Why would you remove such a useful feature that we rely on? I regularly restore my passwords from my PC to my phone every couple weeks, because I manage my passwords on my PC. By the way, you guys had promised to add the ability to sync between phone and PC for a long time now, but that feature never came. It seems you guys are really pushing everyone to sync in the cloud, but the very reason many of us use Enpass is because we don't want our passwords on any cloud; we want our passwords to remain offline and managed only locally between our devices. Please support your offline users! We're your most dedicated fanbase, because we recognized Enpass as the only manager that truly puts the user in control, and the best part of that control is keeping our passwords offline.

Atm, access to multiple vaults works with the master password of the first vault. This prevents different users with different vaults can use enpass on one PC. In addition I think it's a security issue, because the master password of other vaults are saved in Enpass / in the first vault. A master password should never be saved anywhere! So it would be great, if access to a vault should only be possible with each vault's master password. Not with the master password of another vault. For me it's not importent opening multiple vaults at the same time. I only want to manage/using them separatly with one Enpass installation or within the web browser.

WebDav solution via Synology WIN / IOS Hello everybody, Since I was also facing the problem and did not really get help here, I'll tell you now, how it works under Synology to 100% !!! Before a small remark: The service on WebDav was really not good of you and constantly to refer to a demo account and then not even a normal WebDav connection over other WebDav programs made to get though everything is running very clearly shows that in the case just did not put your prio! It was so annoying that you almost lost me as a customer, but now yes !!! Changes to the previous version: Apparently what has changed in the resolution of the local folder paths and thus always comes the error that he can not access! Solution: Create a shared folder "Enpass". Then I created another folder per user, for example "Test" The internal path looks like this: \ Volume1 \ Enpass \ Test \ Now very important, now you put again a folder at the Enpass means: / Volume1 / Enpass / Test / Enpass / In the folder "Test" you put your tresor / file: vault.enpassdbsync The final path for the user "test" will look like this: /volume1/Enpass/Test/Enpass/vault.enpassdbsync Respite ... ;-) In order for access to work on Enpass then the https must look like this (here it gets exciting and the actual error is visible): https: // example. DYNDNS.net:5001/Enpass/Test/ important here is the specification of the port. If you have specified an individual port, of course, just enter this port there ;-). Of course, in DSM the user who defines it will give the read / write permission to the shared folder and also the WebDav right under programs. That's it, it works! Either the team picks up the hint and corrects their faq or corrects the procedure. no matter what you do, please inform us about it so that we do not face the problem again that it will not work! Small note: Thus, you can create multiple safes / users and synonymous synonymous via WebDav Syncronieren. I have always created the user folder and the folder underneath if I already had a vault. I then put the vault in the Enpass folder as described above. I apologize for the bad translation, my english is cruel. If you have any questions I will try to answer them in English, but in German it would be much easier :). many Greetings Seger --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WebDav Lösung per Synology WIN/IOS Hallo zusammen, da ich auch vor dem Problem stand und hier nicht wirklich hilfe bekommen habe, teil ich euch nun mit, wie es unter Synology zu 100% funktioniert!!!

Inspired by the below discussion, I decided to pack up Enpass 6 into a AppImage for those who don't want to have to do all the work to get it on an unsupported distro like Gentoo, Void, etc. Just download it, mark it executable, and run it. I have yet to FULLY test it, but so far it works for me. I expect that auto-start on boot/log-in won't work yet, though. If there's enough interest in this, and Sinew isn't against it ( or better yet, hires me to maintain it officially ), I'll do more thorough testing and get auto-start working. DISCLAIMER and DISCLOSURE: This is an UNOFFICIAL package of Enpass 6 that I made for my self, and am releasing in hopes that others will find it useful. If Sinew asks me to, I will cease distribution. I have NO AFFILIATION with Sinew other than as one of their customers. Sinew is well within their rights to decline to support you while you use my package. You will still be bound by the same agreements and contracts with Sinew as if you were to use their official packages. I offer NO WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE, explicit or implied, in regards to this package; USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Download Enpass-6.0.0.230-1-x86_64.AppImage

  41. 1 point
I am leaving Enpass due to this poor security audit and new pricing model. I honestly do not believe that my data is secure with Enpass due to this pathetic audit. They are obviously hiding something.
  42. 1 point
Hi @skylark, Enpass 6 stores its data in a different place called App folder. You can't see this folder (blame Google for that). However, you can see data size by visiting Google Drive in a web browser and go to Settings(gear icon on top right)->Manage Apps. Cheers:)

Hi @Waira Thanks for your feedback. Actually, the Tags are exactly like the folders and they are nested too. Also, you can tag an item while creating it. There is a bug in the current version which restricts you from using the same Tag name ever in other hierarchy of folders(like a:b:c and r:b:c) and we will fix it very soon. Also, you won't need to remember the tag as there will be a tag editor at the Edit page. You can still do this from the sidebar, under tags. Select the Tag and right click to create a new Subtag or browser the hierarchy. On the desktop just drag and drop the item there and on ipad you can still go into the tag from Groups->Tags and create a new tag or add any item inside the tag. Please do not feel like this and we assure you to make it as smooth as you want in every respect. Please bear with us and feel free to share your feedback.

@Anshu kumar I agree with @mdovey also, and strongly encourage some thought in providing the option to store vault passwords in the master vault or or not to provide better flexibility and security. Thanks for your consideration.
  45. 1 point
I would argue that as creating as there is an option when creating a vault to store the vault password in the master vault (i.e. you can chose not to), and it is possibly to delete the vault password entry later (and presumably also re-create it), I would argue that automatic unlocking of secondary vaults should be based on which passwords are stored in the master vault. i.e. if a secondary vault password is store in the master vault, then that secondary vault is automatically unlocked; if the secondary vault password is not stored, then that secondary vault is not automatically unlocked. Matthew
  46. 1 point
I totally agree with Jankkm, please give as option to unlock secondary vaults with their own passwords or with master vault password.
  47. 1 point
Thank you @Anshu kumar for clarifying that this is the way you want to go with Enpass. I still don't agree that it makes sense in every case and also about not having to worry about security. With this design every vault is only as secure as the primary vault passphrase wise. You are right that I can disable sync for a vault which means it is secure on the storage device/service I am syncing with but on my PC/Mac I have to use a passphrase on the primary vault that is at least as secure as the passphrases of the other vaults if I don't want to sacrifice security. I think this doesn't make sense because the passphrase of the primary vault is the one I have to type in very frequently so I don't want it to be too complicated and long but if the more complex passphrase of a separate vault is stored in that primary vault, again, the added security of the separate vault is gone (again, only locally). Also I like to use the PIN after typing in the passphrase once which weakens security in favor of convenience. It would be irresponsible to do this if the security of every vault depends on that PIN. I think it shouldn't be too hard to allow vaults that have to be unlocked individually and it would help a lot! I hope you understand my concerns and think about this again. Especially considering that 1Password has exactly the same weakness and quite a few users who are unhappy with it (https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/56271/individual-unlocking-of-secondary-vaults-gone-in-1password-6).
  48. 1 point
@Anshu kumar Would you mind giving some short statement regarding this topic? Thank you!
  49. 1 point
I don‘t believe that this is a bug, they probably designed it this way. It would be good to get a statement from Enpass here though.
  50. 1 point
No, only the password of the primary vault is able to unlock everything. The passwords of the other vaults seem to be stored encrypted with the password of the primary vault. edit: sorry I think I got you wrong but my answer should still help. The vaults have different passwords but if you unlock the primary vault every vault is unlocked.
