  1. Software software programs are on the rise. For example, the latest version of Microsoft Office Fees has 124 MB of hard disk space. Keeping your hard drive free of unused files and programs is therefore more important than ever. This will not only give you extra space, but like a well-operated motor, your hard drive can perform daily tasks more efficiently.

In the good old DOS days, it was easy to clean your hard drive. You've just removed everything from the application subdirectory and a statement or two from the autotox.bat file. Both Windows 3.x and Windows Both 95 are more complex than this - the application enters files in various subtypes in .INI, .DLL and .DAT, making it almost impossible to identify all the files associated with the application. This means that even after a good clean, there will still be a lot of junk left on your system which also has the ability to slow things down and generate errors.

When it comes to removing programs, Windows 95 users have an advantage over Windows 3.x users because Microsoft has created an uninstaller in Windows 95. Unfortunately, this utility does not provide the depth and breadth of a single product - or it will not work with Windows x.x. You'll be better served if you switch to one of the programs here. All three come with a 16-bit version for Windows 3.1 users and a 32-bit version for Windows 95 / NT systems. Here we are testing the Windows 95 / NT module.

    Cleaning
CleanSweep 95 is very easy to use with QuarterDeck. Tabs make navigation easier, and QuarterDeck's wizards allow users to uninstall step by step. Clean Sweep warns users not to delete programs and files visually, and will ask them to back up files to the directory for later deletion. If files are accidentally deleted, CleanSweep's restore function will restore them. Clean Sweep identifies files deleted by time and date, so users can find the right files to restore how long it was.

I did a full disk cleanup using CleanSwip - deleting programs and removing orphaned files (files left after the application was deleted). The process was simple, and I consulted Quarterdack to get the files back, I'm not sure to tweak - especially the DLL and orphaned files. This became a useful security measure because I accidentally deleted the required file. Fortunately, recovery took a few seconds. As an additional security measure before removing Cleansweep files, users can view the list and delete some files.

Clean Sweep also includes general cleaning tasks such as saving and compressing unused programs for later use. With the Transport Wizard you can move all parts of the program from your hard drive to another hard drive. After compressing the program into a file, the restore assistant can reinstall it on another computer. It is much less cumbersome than installing a full program, and transferring programs and files from desktop to laptop is relatively painless.

The next version of CleanSweep, which should be available at the time of this reading, has some new features, including automatic updates from the Fretic website and more extensive application databases.

DLL Suite is one of the best software that easily identify the corrupted and missing DLL files on your PC. This software automatically repairs all the unidentified files. It frequently gets updated and gets a new interface. It has one of the largest DLL databases for all Windows versions.

MicroHelp's Uninstaller 3.5 works a little differently than CleanSweep. It has a lot of features, but its user interface is a bit flawed which makes it a little difficult to see all its features. Uninstaller has drop-down menus instead of using the Cleanbide interface style which makes Cleansweep easier to use. For example, from the Uninstall drop-down menu, users perform actions like deleting, saving, transferring, and moving an application. Once the role is selected, users search for applications using the familiar Windows 95 "folder" metaphor to find the application folder.
