Hiroshi Posted September 11, 2021 Report Posted September 11, 2021 I have a Lifetime Pro license, why I need to buy a Premium license? Is the Premium a Lifetime license if I buy it? 1
Gulshan Dogra Posted September 13, 2021 Report Posted September 13, 2021 Hi @Hiroshi, Welcome to the Enpass community. On 9/11/2021 at 10:27 AM, Hiroshi said: I have a Lifetime Pro license, why I need to buy a Premium license? Under the premium license Enpass has two robust new features like 2FA Identification and Breach Monitoring. In order to take the benefits of these options Enpass encourages its users to move from pro to premium. Please visit this blogpost for more information. You can refer to this link of our official website to know more about pricing details of Premium – Life Time Membership.
Hiroshi Posted September 14, 2021 Author Report Posted September 14, 2021 Thank you for your response. The price on link you sent to me is for new license purchase, there is no price for the upgrade from Pro to Premium. 1
Sher Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 Is there an upgrade price from pro lifetime to premium lifetime? It was supposed to be lifetime so if I want to upgrade I should get a special price surely 4
SixOfNine Posted December 2, 2021 Report Posted December 2, 2021 Same here, enquiring minds want to know. It is completely incomprehensible that those who supported Enpass from the beginning and left their positive opinion in all those app stores for other users to know (or recommended it to their friends and family) have now to accept to be forced to buy a new lifetime licence again or change into a subscription scheme they hated from the beginning. If this should be the case at least I will not accept it without an adequate battle, give up Enpass completely and/or will at least do the same publicity as before but now in a very negative way. I published several IT magazines and am not motivated at all to tolerate such a behaviour. 1

Pro users on our platform will not be charged again and will never be forced to subscribe. Enpass does encourage its Pro Lifetime License holders to upgrade to Premium Lifetime License as it includes robust security features like 2FA Identification and Breach Monitoring, License conversion is completely user's choice and Enpass will respect that. The idea is not to take anything away from you as we go along, but to give you more security features. We do provide a discount to our registered Pro users (only) for upgrading to Premium. To know more about this contact us at support@enpass.io. We will continue to add more Pro-features without any additional cost, recent Pro-feature which we launched was Sync over WiFi (Cloudless Sync) 1

Unfortunately, I’ve never seen or received any Premium Lifetime Upgrade Offer for Pro users – it appears to be a much too well hidden secret. I saw some promotional offers like the $24.99 one from Stacksocial for new users but never anything for your existing user base. In my case I bought two licences: one for iOS/iPadOS and one for macOS, the latter one now given away for free, right? So I paid a total of around $7 less for Pro than Premium would have cost at e. g. Stacksocial and do not really understand why there are two licence universes at all. And probably like other Pro users I’m beginning to ask myself the question about this weird parallel universe I’m involuntarily living in as compared to the more comfortable one of Premium users. Well, I thought Pro would be situated more or less at the same level as Premium but I was obviously wrong. It seems to me there is no clear communication about this anywhere. Please accept my apologies if I’m wrong. 18 hours ago, Gulshan Dogra said: The idea is not to take anything away from you as we go along, but to give you more security features. And while I do not need Sync over WiFi (Cloudless Sync) I’d appreciate 2FA Identification. So it seems that Pro will never be a convenient solution for anyone if compared to Premium as Pro users have no influence at all about the features Enpass is deciding to include or not. This most definitely is not something owners of a lifetime licence ever did imagine. Edited December 3, 2021 by SixOfNine
SixOfNine Posted December 20, 2021 Report Posted December 20, 2021 Dear Enpass team, there seems to be some sort of a communication problem as I received absolutely no answer from your mail address support@enpass.io. I wrote twice (Fri, 3 Dec 2021 11:41:12 +0100 and Tue, 14 Dec 2021 09:49:23 +0100) and my messages didn’t bounce (I received replies from Enpass beforehand). I’m quite tired by this and would like to end my second class membership with Enpass. When I bought the Pro licence I never imagined that there would be a change in the licensing scheme taking me into some kind of a zombie customer position. This is ridiculous, thanks in advance for resolving this once and for all. 1
SixOfNine Posted January 8, 2022 Report Posted January 8, 2022 As Enpass did not reply, I bought a "Lifetime Premium" licence via StackSocial for around $30 (for those of you interested: hurry up as the promo will end in a couple of days). As I still had some money on my Stacksocial account for previous purchases I even paid $8 less. To resume this rather disappointing matter I have to determine that the Enpass service is far from acceptable (if not lousy) and that the only reason for me continuing the use of this software is comparable to my continuing use of Apple products which I also do not consider being of quality anymore but something like the lesser evil. Note to Enpass: lifetime should be lifetime – if you ever should decide that after Pro and Premium there should be Emperor or Excelsior licences, however, it will be without me. In the meantime I’ll enjoy leaving some comments here and there about the Enpass service approach. Thanks for nothing! 1

I asked support what the discount would be if I upgraded from Pro to Premium and they replied "Currently, we do not have any ongoing promotional campaign. You can check the website for pricing and features." Extremely disappointing. 1 1

I do understand, that for "new features" at some point an upgrade fee would be acceptable, but not providing existing users with some sort of discount is some malpractice and not supporting of longtime users. I myself bought a lifetime Pro license I think back in 2016 and would willingly upgrade to Premium for a discounted fee, but ~100€ just for the feature to get 2FA and breach notifications? Thank you, but no. 1

Adam DZ Posted December 26, 2024 Report Posted December 26, 2024 Yeah, I just got a nasty upgrade nag in my desktop apps and I paid for a lifetime Pro license before 2019. Not cool. Subscriptions suck, plain and simple and nearly $90 for a full license is excessive. Will the nag go away? I really hate to see ads in software I paid for. Send me an email, but in-app nags are low. I get it that you may need money but $90 is a no go. Subscription is a no go either. Please re-think this. Not cool. 3
Renn Posted December 30, 2024 Report Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) I received a push notification on my Android client offering upgrade from Pro Lifetime to Premium Lifetime for $59.99 today but I don't think 2FA support notify and passkey support notify worth that price. Buying anew is on discount for $79.99 right now, so all Pro Lifetime features only worth $20 in their mind, while the Premium exclusive features are 2 times more expensive at $60, that's simply nonsense. With a more reasonable price I would upgrade, my expectation is $20 or less. I will not pay a penny more than that before any major expansion on the capabilities of a Premium Subscription, you have the choice. Edited January 4 by Renn 1
KazeEnji Posted December 30, 2024 Report Posted December 30, 2024 This is ridiculous. I bought the lifetime pro to get away from these annoying nag-ads and now I'm getting banners, popups, a new standout UI button, AND three additional tiles on the home page of the app with shiny little crowns trying to nag me into buying...what...notifications? I don't need the app to tell me what sites can support 2FA or Passkey...I can do that myself and you want...some amount of money? You also won't let me buy it in the app...it literally says "We understand this isn't ideal"...what am I supposed to do with that? When I go to the site, it seems like I need to purchase it full price? I picked enpass years ago because it offered two things that other managers didn't. A one-time purchase for all features and the ability to store my own vault offline wherever I chose. Now my one time purchase is losing the reason I bought it in that I'm being constantly nagged now every time I want to use the app...so that leaves really one reason to use this app. At this point maybe I'll just move to Nord's password manager. I'm already paying for the VPN, if Enpass is going to start doing nagg-ads, why would I tolerate that...I'll just bite to bullet and go do the subscription thing like everyone else. At least then I won't be bothered. 1
Adam DZ Posted December 30, 2024 Report Posted December 30, 2024 "I'll just bite to bullet and go do the subscription thing like everyone else" Don't do that. That's why these nags exist, that's why vendors do nags: to annoy and frustrate you enough that you give up and pay a subscription. I'm not paying for a sub, I'd rather start putting my passwords in a spreadsheet than pay a subscription. Subscriptions exist because people let them. If we refused subs, they'd go away. 2
Anthony Posted January 3 Report Posted January 3 Wow. Enpass has really turned to the 'bait and switch' model and screwing over loyal long-time customers. Nags in the Windows app but no pricing and no links to where to upgrade. Just a small note saying "Purchasing Premium plans within the app is not supported. We understand this isn't ideal". OK, but you've given me to links to WHERE to actually find out where, how, how much??? In the Android app I finally got a nag popup ad and then nearly choked when I saw the 40% discounted price of $104.99! Are you f'ing kidding?????? LOL. First you pivot to trying to become a business/enterprise solution, which I'm guessing didn't drive the revenue you were hoping for. Now you create a new subscription tier and charge an exorbitant upgrade cost to your existing customers? What a shake down. I will definitely NOT be upgrading at that price and you've provided yet another reason to trust/like/respect Enpass even less, so that when a new password management solution comes along, I will have less concerns about abandoning Enpass. Yes, I get it, if we don't need those features in Premium we can choose not to pay the price. That is entirely our choice. But from what I can see, a feature that I used to have (2FA supported), has now been taken and put into another tier. So, something I did have, has now been taken away. You really should respect your customers more. If you want to rectify this, you need to be offering a 90%+ discount on upgrade to existing customers given the insane price. 1
Tikkes Posted Wednesday at 01:03 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:03 PM I too agree, I bought a lifetime license and now I am being annoyed to pay once more. I have been using Enpass for years and really enjoy using it and this really makes me like it less. I eventually did buy the lifetime again for premium however if this happens again, I'm switching again to something else even though I really do not want to. This is just disrespecting the customers in my opinion. At least there should have been a decent discount for pro users upgrading to premium. 1
