Hello,

I am working on Linux Mint 20.3 (Una) which is based on Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS (Focal Fossa) and my Enpass application constantly crashes. The Linux kernel I'm using is 5.4.0-122-generic and the desktop manager is Cinnamon version 5.2.7. I have already submitted a couple of crash reports.

Can you give me any help?

Did it spill any details if run from a terminal?

Ran enpass on mint 20.3 only two days ago, albeit the Edge iso which uses kernel 5.13 but shouldn't matter

Hi @Björn,

Welcome to the Enpass Community Forum.

I appreciate your efforts in reporting the presence of this issue. I have shared it all with the concerned team for further investigation. In the meantime, please share the details of the Enpass version.

@Ivarson, I just tried this and it crashed with some output:

$ /opt/enpass/Enpass
QTextCursor::setPosition: Position '1' out of range

But maybe this message is not the cause of the crash but caused by the crash report window itself - cause when I put it into background and get it up front again, the message repeates. When Enpass starts up correctly, I get a lot of this (but this doesn't look harmful):

QQmlComponent: Created graphical object was not placed in the graphics scene.

It's disappointing, it's been several months with this bug.
After many years of using Enpass, I am now using Bitwarden. I hope you guys fix it soon.

Hi @amarcruz

Welcome to the Enpass Forums.

For troubleshooting purposes, please create a manual backup/set up synchronization for your Enpass data and then reinstall the app. You can refer to the steps under Linux Section in this link to install on your system. If the issue persists, please share the below details with me, and I’ll have this investigated for you

-

1.     The version of the Enpass app and OS you are using.

2.   Is the app crashing for you after a certain step, ie, after editing an Item, creating a new Item, etc? Or is it completely random?

3.   Try disconnecting the internet, then launch the Enpass app and observe if the app is still crashing for you. If it is not crashing, then while the internet is disconnected, try removing the cloud account you are using for synchronization, enable the internet and re-launch Enpass to check if the app is still crashing. Also share the cloud service you are using to synchronize your data.

4.   Is the Enpass app showing you a crash report after the crash? If yes, kindly share it with me.
