Enpass is a massive slow down in browser

Featured Replies

I was working with a content management and was wondering why working is not fluent. Then I test it with speedometer and there is a massiv slow down through the Enpass browser extension.

Could you check and repair/correct that. Are any solution for that problem? See attachment.

Thank you for taking the extra effort to check the slowness issue. Does it occur in a specific browser or across multiple ones? If it's limited to one, please share the browser name to help us investigate further.

It seems that all browsers are affected. Here a Screenshot of Firefox (140.0.4) on MacOS. The first result was Brave Browser on MacOS newest version 1.80.120.

Thanks for the details and screenshot. We've informed our technical team and will get back to you as soon as we have an update.

I am noticing an issue whenever I use Firefox with the Enpass extension. Whenever the extension is enable, there is a small lag of less than a second when typing.  The lag is highly noticable because I type pretty fast and the bug slows my typing rate to a crawl. If I disable enpass extension even for a brief moment, the issue goes away for a while but always return. The issue has affected Firefox on Mac OS, Windows 11, and Linux. The Mac and Windows are on relatively speedy machines (Mac is a M1), so should not be a cpu issue.

On windows 11, the version is:

Enpass desktop: 6.11.12 (1994)
Firefox Extension: 6.11.5.1
Firefox version: 140.0.4
Windows 11: 26100.4652

We understand how this may be affecting your experience. Rest assured, our technical team is aware of the lag issue and is working diligently to resolve it. We’ll keep you posted with any progress.

So for the past couple months, I've found that when I'm typing up a post on Bluesky or a comment on YouTube, there's often (but not always) a significant amount of lag between me typing something and it appearing on screen. The entire site will freeze for multiple seconds before then filling in what I typed, which is of course pretty frustrating.

By process of elimination, I narrowed the issue down to the Enpass extension. If I disable it, I can immediately start typing with no lag again, and I can even re-enable the extension with no issue, at least for a little bit before the issue comes back. This happens for me in both Chrome and Firefox, and on both Windows and Linux (and all the combinations of these).

I recorded a Firefox performance profile to demonstrate, so hopefully a Google Drive link is okay here. On Bluesky after bringing up the field to type a new post, I start typing "asdf" over and over with lag occurring. I then disable and re-enable the Enpass extension and type the same thing again with no lag.

Hi,

There is a very annoying problem in Firefox with typing comments on YouTube and Reddit when the Enpass extension is enabled. Typing text into comment fields is extremely delayed and the CPU load increases. When I disable the “pop-up menu for automatic filling” in the Enpass extension settings, the issue disappears.

Firefox version: 141.0 (64-bit)
Enpass Firefox Extension: 6.11.5.2
Enpass Windows: 6.11.13 (2033)
OS: WIN11 24H2 / 26100.4349
CPU: Ryzen 9 7900
RAM: 64GB @ 4800 MT/s

Thanks for the workaround.

Any more info on the issue. This is in my opinion a major issue.

Our tech team is aware of the issue, and a fix is being prioritized for an upcoming update.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
