Dear Beta Subscribers!

We are getting closer and closer to the release date, and we’re happy to announce the finest beta with the improvements and bug fixes reported by you guys in the previous Beta.

While we add some finishing touches, get your hands on this beta and share your valuable feedback.

IMPORTANT NOTES FROM DEVELOPER

  • Must save a BACKUP: Your data will be upgraded to support the new architecture of v6. Once the database is upgraded to v6, it can't be downgraded or restored into previous Enpass versions. So it is highly recommended to take a backup of your data manually from any Enpass version you are using. You can take a backup via Enpass Settings> Backup and Restore.
  • Sync incompatibility: Sync in Enpass v6 works entirely in new, efficient way and syncs to the different location (generally in destined App folders on cloud service providers) than the previous versions released so far. It will neither synchronize with and nor restore data of any previous versions (Enpass 5 and previous Enpass 6 beta). So if you want to start testing of this beta as a clean install on some other device on which you are not having Enpass 5 (i.e., not over your existing Enpass 5 app), the only way is to restore data from the backup file.
  • Settings restoration: All your Enpass 5 settings will get reset, and you have to Re-configure them individually.

What's New

  • Multiple vaults: This is one of the most demanded features in Enpass that lets you have separate vaults for better segregation of your data. You can create multiple vaults for personal and work data and share with your family or team members by syncing through a common cloud account. However, each of your vaults requires a different cloud account to sync with.
    • To create a new vault, go to app Enpass Settings > Vaults and follow the instructions to create your new vault.
  • Favicons: Enpass 6 can automatically download and set the icon associated with the particular website or URL saved in an item. You can enable it from the Enpass Settings > General > Enable Use Favicon.
  • Custom icons: We've also introduced a much-requested feature; Custom icons, which allows you to set any image as an icon for any item in Enpass.
  • Secure sharing: This version brings secured sharing where you can share an item encrypted with a Pre-Shared Key (PSK). You can create PSK from the Advanced Settings of Enpass after which an additional option to Encrypt with PSK will appear while sharing the item. You need to share the PSK with the intended recipient which he needs to enter while importing the item.
  • Keyfile support: Enpass 6 on desktops lets you create and use a Keyfile along with the master password to log into Enpass. If you have added a Keyfile on desktop, you would be prompted to provide keyfile on your device which you can scan from the desktop or load from the Files app in your Android device.
  • Trash: Trash is here. From now onwards, every item you delete will go in the Trash first from where you can recover or permanently delete it.
  • Archive: You can archive the items which are no longer in use, but you don't want to delete them as well. The archived item won't appear in any search results.
  • Multi-line fields: Added a new field-type as multi-line field which allows you to save information in more than one line. You can make any field a multi-line field by changing its field type from the item edit page.
  • Identity: We've introduced a new default category Identity to let you fill those long, tedious identity forms with a single click.
  • Added localization support for Afrikaans, Malay, Croatian, Hungarian, Indonesian, Romanian, Slovak and Swedish.

Improvements

  • Cloud synchronization: The new Enpass 6 now syncs the Enpass data into the designated App folder on the cloud, unlike it used to do in the root folder for Google Drive, and OneDrive. Along with this, the app now requires minimal permissions and will give relief to our folks who raised concerns regarding the list of permissions the Enpass was asking while configuring the sync, especially in case of OneDrive. Also, as Enpass 6 is based on a new architecture, it will not sync and restore data from previous Enpass 5 and Enpass 6 beta versions.
  • Improved Password generator and strength estimation: We have improved the password generator with the new user interface, option for excluding the symbols and the better strength estimation using zxcvbn. So there might be chances that the password shown as strong in Enpass v5 will be displayed as Weak in Enpass 6.
  • Tags: The erstwhile Folder feature is now known as Tags. All your existing Folders and sub-folders will be replaced by the Tags and sub-tags respectively.
  • Separate section for items with TOTP or Attachments: Many of you folks requested that items with TOTP or attachments should be grouped and displayed together, and here you'll see the separate sections for both TOTP and Attachments in the Sidebar.
  • Eight digits TOTP support: Previously the app was restricted to generate only six digits TOTPs making it difficult for some folks who were using eight-digit TOTPs. Now this limitation has been removed, and you can freely add TOTP to quickly login into accounts.
  • While using Fingerprint, many of our users reported of forgetting of the master password making it tough to access their database. Now Enpass give you the option to provide master password after day, week or month.
  • A lot of other minor improvements.

Get It Now

We are continually working to boost the quality of Enpass before the official release and devoting a lot of time in improvements and bug fixes. And we are eagerly waiting for your feedback on our forums.

With Love to our Android users!!❤️❤️

I've a couple of questions regarding the keyfile:

1. Will the Android app support creating a keyfile?

2. Why not allow the user to use any file with random content as a keyfile? I've been using 2048-bit private key generated using ssh-keygen as my keyfile with Keypass2Android.

I recently purchased Enpass after testing the previous beta version. I am really happy with the progress you guys have made from version 5 to 6. I would request you to please include a black theme for amoled displays, just like safeincloud.

The Android version is loaded. The fingerprint unlock is still much slower than V5. The big problem is I cannot load the primary vault. There doesn't seem to be any RESTORE function and I cannot get the sync to OneDrive to complete the connection. This may be a transition from V5 problem but it is still a problem.

had the same issue. couldn't give up 2 years of passwords and info to play with the beta. might try to see if i can use a locally stored backup to import the data but i'll have to wait till i'm off work to play with it. i sure would like to have all the new functionality but i need it to work first and foremost.

Trying to load Enpass 5 backup into a new vault on Android: App crashes.

And, of course, this means that I CANNOT use Enpass on my phone.

I have the same issue - I have created a backup (walletx file) in Enpass 5 and I cannot import it in Enpass 6 on Android (I click on that walletx file in a file manager and choose Enpass to open it).

I have had to switch back to 6.0.0.75 to get to work, even though it was out of date. I am manually moving the few entries over for now. Hope we can get an update to 6.0.0.91, because 6.0.0.75 is the only one that is working on Android now that .91 has blown away V5.

And I sure hope they can improve the delay after fingerprint login. It is at least 3 times longer on V6 as V5.

Noted and forwarded to the QA team to look into it.

I can't get the database to Sync with DropBox.

Select dropbox, it opens web browser and I complete authorization. It closes the web browser and Enpass needs me to login again with finger print and Sync is set back to none.

One of the possible reason for this issue might be that you have two Enpass apps (i.e. Enpass and Enpass Beta) installed on your device. So in case, if the Enpass Beta (v6.0.0.75) ic_launcher.png.0c27f9dd86498c9aa1d2e39b32004964.png is still available on your device then take a back up of its data and uninstall it

To restore your Enpass 5 data into Enpass 6 follow these simple steps:

  • Install Enpass (you will get v6.0.0.91 if you are a beta tester)  from Play Store.
  • It will prompt you a Welcome screen --> Select Backup File --> Local Storage -->select the walletx file --> Enter Master Password and done.

Also, as Enpass 6 is based on a new architecture, it will not sync and restore data from previous Enpass 5 and Enpass 6 beta versions.

Do we have any compatible version for other platforms (such as windows/linux) which sync with this cloud backup?

How does the app purchase work if I need to share a wallet with my family/work?

I'm confusing with your explanation. I use Enpass 5 but I switched to Enpass 6 beta and now my data from Enpass 5 is not up to date as Enpass 6 beta.

With your explanation then I cannot keep syncing data of Enpass 6 beta after Enpass 6 is release official.

What should I do with my data Enpass 6 Beta?

What they meant was the data from the previous Enpass 6 beta which was released as a seperate app on the Play Store.

The stable 6 release will of course sync with this beta.

Hi @Binh Truong

Sorry for the confusion. Actually, the first beta of Enpass 6 was released as a standalone app and was installed as a separate app on your device parallel to the existing Enpass app. But the recent beta update v6.0.0.91 is pushed over the current Enpass 5 app.

I know that many of our active beta testers might have migrated their data from Enpass v5 to standalone Enpass 6 beta app. But with this latest beta update, they again have to restore their data from Enpass 6 Beta standalone to the Enpass app. However, due to different data locations on the cloud, it's not possible to restore data directly from the cloud and, you need to restore it manually.

To restore, please follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Saving the backup from Enpass 6 Beta

  • Open Enpass 6 beta app > Settings > Advanced > Backup > click On Device under External Storage > Select the path > Done.
  • Uninstall it from the device.

Step 2: Restoring backup into Enpass app

  • Open Enpass app and save a backup.
  • Reinstall the Enpass app v6.0.0.91 from Play Store.
  • When the Welcome screen appears, click Local Storage under Backup File > Locate the backup saved in Step 1 > Enter Master Password and Done.

Hope it helps. Let me know if you still face any problem in restoring your data.

I don't think it would work. Based on the above posts, I feel the sync for other platforms aren't enabled. Refer the following grid.

@Vikram Dabas correct me if I am wrong.
