Enpass filling wrong values/fields

Featured Replies

Hi there,

On my wife's phone Enpass somehow fills wrong values, both with autofill and notification system. It used to work fine, but not anymore. She complained passwords were suddenly wrong. So i investigate and found Enpass is using wrong fields to fill. It looks somewhat random. For instance, on one website it seems to use the 'username' field to fill as password and on another site it uses e-mail field as username but with correct password. Both examples used to work and come from our shared vault and both work fine on my phone and on pc. It's just Enpass on her phone that is acting strangely. I already tried to uninstall Enpass and reinstall from Play Store but that did not help. Any advice?

My wife's phone is a Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact, running Android 9 (build 47.2.A.8.24) with Enpass 6.0.6.200

Hey @Maarten

Sorry for the trouble you are going through.

Can you please let me know on which website/App are you facing this problem so that we can investigate where the problem could be.

Thanks for your co-operation.

Thank you for your reply. Well, one site is https://www.hema.nl (login at https://www.hema.nl/on/demandware.store/Sites-HemaNL-Site/nl_NL/Login-Show?original=%2f), they ask for e-mail and password. The entry in Enpass has just that, an e-mail field and a password field. But when she tries to log in using Enpass, the e-mail address is being used to fill as password. But when i copy that entry into our shared vault and try from my phone then all is good and i can log in. Same for login from pc, no problems there.

edit: A lot of entries are being filled wrong on her phone, but not all. Some are working fine, like login on anwb.nl with e-mail and password is working as expected.

Hey @Maarten

Thanks for sharing the Webasite URL.

I've noted down this issue and forwarded to the dev team to look into it and hopefully a fix will be available in the next update.

Thanks for your co-operation.

Hopefully next update will fix this. But for now, can you maybe give me a link to download the .apk for version 6.0.4? Right now Enpass is unusable for my wife and I think the problem started after her Enpass was updated to 6.0.6

  • Author

@Anshu kumar, can i get the .apk for version 6.0.4 please? So i can see if that version still works on her phone? If it does the same then something else is wrong, because that version did work earlier.

Sorry to say but It's not possible to install outdated versions from the Google Play store.

Thanks for your understanding!

@Anshu kumar, i can side load an .apk outside of Play Store. Why don't you want me to try and see if a previous version solves this issue? I mean, did you guys identify the source of this problem? Will it be fixed in the next stable update or maybe in a beta? And if so, when?

Any update or help to solve this? The wife is getting annoyed and wants to switch to a different password manager.

Hi,

I created a log in for the Hema web site to test the problem Maarten is having. Initially Enpass picked up the incorrect user name, after I manually changed the user name to the supplied email address and tried to log in, this time the user name would not fill, but the password did.

If I had to guess I would say it is probably some coding on the web page that is causing the problem, but my knowledge of HTML is limited.  Below is the section of the page, as best as I can tell, that deals with the user name.  May be someone else can see why it does not seem to work correctly:

form action="https://www.hema.nl/on/demandware.store/Sites-HemaNL-Site/nl_NL/Login-Show?scope=" method="post" id="dwfrm_login" data-errorsummary="#login-errors" novalidate="novalidate">
<input type="hidden" name="csrf_token" value="1FqO2YOvE1GGqVudbQ4zN828m4XhtG5pfKdVfiNAk9hgMKwyvBasd_WeJOJflonZ6N1mLkiz75UpeduLPe4RgpflKuaH8Uaxf4W19UKQXHbLun2m-umCVHcpfymWlZxt-oWJK4tM-LDkOZgINN0qum5ID7APYkN2b8cKNsEf9BBXeTKGOrY"/>
<div class="form">

<div class="form-wrapper" data-formgroup-id="login">

        <div class="form-group-wrapper " data-country-id="default">

                <fieldset class="form-row ">

<div class="inner inner-full required">

<label for="dwfrm_login_username_default"><span class="label">e-mailadres</span></label>

<div class="field-wrapper ">
<input class="input-text required " type="email"  id="dwfrm_login_username_default" name="dwfrm_login_username" value="" regex="^[a-zA-Z0-9!#$%&'*+\/=?^_`{|}~-]+(\.?[a-zA-z0-9!#$%&'*+\/=?^_`{|}~-]+)*@\w+([\.-]?\w+)*(\.\w{2,61})+$" autocomplete='off' minlength='6' maxlength='255' placeholder='vul je e-mailadres in' />
</div>

Thanks for your testing @Dentonthebear. Interesting to see you can reproduce this. I did not expect that actually, because on my phone and on Windows that same entry works as intended. On which platform did you do that testing, Android? If so, which version?

  • Author

My wife's phone is running Android 9 as well, mine's running Android 8. So there might be something with Android version 9 causing this.

@Anshu kumar, are you reading this? What can we do to help in this bug hunt?

Hey @Maarten,

We are really sorry for the trouble you are going through.

Our dev team is already looking into this issue. I request you to please wait for the next update.

Thanks for your co-operation.

I do hope this get sorted in the next update; my wife is going crazy (can't blame her) for having to open the full Enpass app and manually copy her login credentials every time she needs to log on to a website.

Latest update seems to have fixed this issue! There is no pop-up bubble anymore, but at least filling with notification works as it should. Great guys, thank you!
