Hi @SinLog,

There are two ways to install Enpass-

  • Microsoft Store or Windows Store  (known as Enpass Store version

  • Enpass Website (known as Enpass website version)

Please note that option to change database location is only available for app downloaded from Enpass website(from here https://www.enpass.io/downloads/). If you have downloaded Enpass from Windows store, it won’t be possible to change the database location.

To change the database location in website version, please follow these steps:

  • Open Enpass → Under Settings, go to Advanced → Click on Change Location to change the data location.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

  • 3 weeks later...

On a MAC there is no option to download Enpass from the web site.  The web site directs you to the APP Store.  I was able to change the folder for automatic backups and it works, but it doesn't keep multiple backups; it only overwrites the last one.  Therefore, if there is a problem with one of your backups, you can't restore an older one, unless you have made manual backups also.  This is a very bad feature of Enpass!

Hey @CleosMom

Thanks for writing in.

You can download website version of Enpass on your macOS using this link (website version is given at the bottom of the page under the name 'Download from website).

I have downloaded Enpass for MAC from the website and directed the backups to go to an Enpass folder in my documents.  That also created a vault folder, which encases my primary vault.  The automatic backups is now going to my desired location.

I still have 2 questions about backups.

1.  How often do automatic backups occur?  Is it whenever changes are made to the data?

2.  Whenever an automatic backup occurs, it simply overwrites the previous one.  Therefore, I do not have any previous backups.  Isn't it supposed to save several older backups?  Please let me know why this is happening.

Thank you very much.

Hi @CleosMom

Local backups are made every day, the location of which can be found by going to settings (the hamburger menu in the top right-hand corner) > Tools > Autobackups.

Changes made to records are updated as and when they are made.

Sixty of the local daily backups are retained.

The problem is that none of that is working.  Automatic backups are not happening at all.  I'm going to uninstall the app and reinstall it again for the 4th time.  If that doesn't work, I give up!

Thanks for your reply.

Yes. The backups are taken automatically at regular intervals to your device using auto-backups.

No. Please check in the documents folder within the folder of Enpass, you will see many xxxxauto.enpassbackup option, where you will last 60 backup files saved within this folder.
