Wi-Fi Sync stopped working "Wrong master password"

Featured Replies

I use Wi-Fi sync for years but it suddenly stopped working. Mac is server and active, trying to sync the iPhone I get en error message in vault settings: "password  for data on Wi-Fi sync needed".

When I select "solve" it wants me to put in a "password for the data on Wi-Fi Sync". Filling this out it says, master password will be changed if I move on, but anyways if I try the Wi-Fi sync password or the Enpass master password I get an error "wrong password".

I already tried to set ab a new Wi-Fi sync connection using the QR code with no success.

I can use Enpass on the Mac and on the iPhone with the old settings, but can't sync the data anymore.

Solved it. I had to stop Wi-Fi Sync on the server as well as the slaves and set it up new. Nothing else I tried worked.

Thank you for the solution. I had the same problem and stopping the syncing on desktop also and re-enabling it worked fine.

It looks like you're having trouble syncing Wi-Fi between your Mac and iPhone using Enpass. Here are some tips to solve the problem: 1. You need to check the Wi-Fi synchronization settings: 2. Check passwords 3. Re-establish the Wi-Fi Sync connection: 4. Update Enpass By systematically following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the Wi-Fi syncing problem in Enpass between your Mac and iPhone.

Please try the below steps  in order to resolve this issue

  • I would suggest you disconnect the Wifi-Sync server from the connected devices and set it up by following the steps in the link - https://www.enpass.io/wifi-sync/, or manually by following the steps in this link - https://www.enpass.io/wifi-sync-manual-setup/
  • Ensure that you have allowed access to Enpass in your Firewall/Antivirus Settings. Moreover, if you are using any VPN service, try disabling it to check if the issue persists.
  • Check that time is set to automatic and is same on all your devices.
  • You can also refer to this highly useful troubleshooting guide in case you get the same error after creating a manual Wifi-sync server - https://www.enpass.io/troubleshooting-wifi-sync/
  • Otherwise, create a manual backup of your Enpass data and then reinstall the app on the affected device.

A general problem ist, that the iOS app give me no option to delete an existing WiFi Sync server. Instead it permanently tries to connect and the only option I see is to delete the whole app and set it up from zero.

This is a bad experience and also required, when you set up a new iPhone and have Enpass installed from a backup. Logins etc. get transferred and can be used, but it can't sync anymore until you set it up new.

Please follow the steps below to stop Wi-Fi sync:

  1. Turn off your internet connection (or enable flight mode) on your device.
  2. Close the Enpass app completely and remove it from recent apps.
  3. Reopen Enpass.
  4. Navigate to the vault that appears to be stuck.
  5. Tap Disconnect to remove the Wi-Fi Sync setup.
