February 9, 20242 yr Hello everyone. So the worst has happened, I forgot my master password (yeah, I know... How silly of me .-.). The vault hadn't that many password inside 'cause it was just my first try in the password manager world, but still... I would like to try to recover it... I know some parts of the master password and I've already tried writing a python script that tries all the combinations. As this was running on my working pc tho, I had only two days to test these combinations. To test them I needed the GUI of enpass that has a hardset 1 sec timeout between logins and you cannot use your pc in the meanwhile. So in a last attempt to recover those 8/9 passwords, what I wanted to try is, transfer the vault from my work Mac laptop to my home Windows laptop, and leave it running there. Do you know if this is possible? (yeah I know 8/9 password are nothing compared to the hundreds one may have, but it's just the principle).
February 13, 20242 yr I understand your concern, Unfortunately, recovering a lost Master Password is not possible, as it is not stored anywhere for security reasons. Your data remains entirely under your control, and we do not have access to it. However, if you have the Enpass App installed and have version 6.9.0 or above on another device with Face ID, biometrics enabled for unlocking, you may be able to recover your data by following these steps: **Option 1: Check Your Actual Master Password** Access the Enpass App on any other mobile or desktop with biometrics/Master Password. Verify if the Primary vault's cloud email address matches the one you are trying to connect to on your target machine. Unlock Enpass App via Face ID/biometrics > Click on Settings > Vaults > Primary > Change Master Password > Enter the Master Password you are sure about. 3.1. Check if it accepts and allows you to change the Master Password to a new one. **Option 2: Transfer Items to a New Cloud with a New Master Password** Unlock Enpass App on the specific device using biometrics/touch/PIN access. Go to Settings > Click on Add New Vault of Enpass with a new Vault password. Copy all items individually from other vaults and move them into the newly created vault. Sync this new vault with a new cloud account. Reinstall Enpass on your desktop/other device and restore data using the new cloud and new Master Password. Once data is restored on the desktop/mobile, repeat step 5 on all other devices.

Oh yeah, I'm repeating myself here. I'm not asking you to recover it for me, I'm merely asking if I can transfer the db and try to log in to this db using another pc.

February 19, 20242 yr Hi @Nikpick100 when attempting to access or restore such encrypted files, the application will prompt for the corresponding master password associated with that particular file.

Is the vault the one in "/Enpass/Data/Documents/Vaults/primary/vault.enpassdb" ?
