Do I really have to pay ten bucks again for Windows Hello?

Featured Replies

I just got a hello capable camera for my desktop. Went to go enable it in enpass and I couldn't find the settings anywhere. Turns out only the UWP app has it (they say the Store version, but the desktop app is in the store now). That's fine. Except it's ten dollars. I've already bought the iOS version. Do I really have to pay another ten bucks for the UWP version?

Why do you have to buy it on a per platform basis?

The current release version of Enpass is Enpass5, which has two editions in the Microsoft Store:

  1. The native UWP application https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9WZDNCRDFQJS - (paid)
  2. The classic Win32 application https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NJ3KMH29VGJ (free)

The classic Win32 application does not have Windows Hello (as of Enpass5). However, Windows Hello capabilities have been added to Enpass6 (which is currently in beta) and it will still be free to use (as per the team's announcements).

They will probably deprecate the native UWP Enpass5 once Enpass6 is released to the store. So maybe just hold off for a couple of months until Enpass 6 gets released.

Well, I tried to use the beta but it just... doesn't work at all. Doesn't allow me to use onedrive to sync the vault, so I can't import my shit.

What kind of timetable are we talking for release on this thing?
