Syncing on Android to Nextcloud creates a 0 Byte vault file
Rainer Holland posted a topic in Android
Hello, after using enpass years flawless, my wife has the problem that under certain circumstances the vault is empty (0kb) on Nextcloud after syncing from her android (Samsung A3 2017 Android 8). The vault on the phone seems ok, but syncing from this state doesn't repair the vault on Nextcloud. After Syncing from another computer, all seems ok. Syncing from the mobile works syncing from several pc works flawless. After a few hours, the same problem occurs. The Problem happens first on syncing with WebDAV on the Nextcloud. I change to Nextcloudsync (That moves also the vault folder on the Nextcloud). Same Problem on the dedicated Nextcloud connection. Myself I have nearly the same setup I use a Samsung S10+ on Android 11 (Same EnPass version (6.7.0.552) ), same Nextcloud, different account. The problem doesn't occur on my setup. For troubleshooting, I've tried several things: 1. Disable directory of Nextcloud to the enpass folder. 2. Reset the enpass app on the mobile clear data and cache (I know the data and cache should be empty after the first step), then uninstall the app. The reinstallation of the app. Has someone a hint what I can try further or is there a real bug. Greetings Rainer -
Dealing with conflicts when using sync via folder
downloaderfan posted a topic in Windows 10 (Store)
Hi, I use Enpass store version on my Windows 10 laptop & the Enpass app on Android. In order to sync database between both my devices, since I don't trust the cloud I opted to use folder sync method along with Syncthing. In Syncthing, I can choose a specific folder on my android phone & windows laptop and Syncthing will keep the contents of the folder in sync using local WiFi i.e. the router. So, in order for the sync to work, both my laptop & my phone must be connected to the router at the same time. It's just like how the Google Drive desktop app can keep 2 folders in different computers in sync, but this occurs through local WiFi & not the global internet. Now coming to my problem, there frequently comes a scenario where if I make a change on Enpass in Windows 10 which is offline and then I make another change on Enpass in Android which is also offline, then when I connect both devices to the internet, a collision occurs & 2 files are generated on both my devices. But it seems Enpass reads only 1 of them to sync, which is the file named vault.enpassdbsync. Is there a way I can setup Enpass such that in such scenarios, it would scan both databases on a line level & identify changes in both? This doesn't seem to be happening when using folder sync method. -
I am starting to love Enpass. But I am also minimizing my dependencies on cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox etc. I have switched to SyncThing which is now used to sync my Whatsapp msg backup folder, the Whatsapp media folder, my phone camera folder and my phone pictures folder. The most important one is Enpass. I believe this would simply work if Enpass would store the encrypted database in a folder that has the same name/structure across OS's (Debian, Android, Windows). Can this be easily implemented?
