Kilo Foxtrot Mike Posted September 6, 2023 Report Posted September 6, 2023 (edited) I have this problem where Enpass seems to quit randomly. As far as I can tell, it is quitting cleanly, i.e. there are no crash logs when I relaunch the app. As I'm not watching the menu bar all the time I can't tell exactly when and under what scenarios it's quitting, and therefore the icon disappears from the menu bar. All I can say is that sometimes it's no longer running after a long period of sleeping (e.g. overnight) and sometimes it could be when I'm actively working. I will only know when I need to use it and either the browser prompts me to launch Enpass or I don't see it in the menu bar to grab a secret from it. How can I troubleshoot it as it's getting annoying having to (re)start Enpass several times a day. Thanks! Edited September 6, 2023 by Kilo Foxtrot Mike
Abhishek Dewan Posted September 6, 2023 Report Posted September 6, 2023 Hi @Kilo Foxtrot Mike To assist with troubleshooting, kindly initiate a manual backup or set up data synchronization for your Enpass application before proceeding with the app reinstallation. If the issue persists, please share the below details with me, and I’ll have this investigated for you - The version of the Enpass app and OS you are using. Have you downloaded the Enpass app from the MacApp Store or from our official website? Is the app crashing for you after a certain step, ie, after editing an Item, creating a new Item, etc? Or is it completely random? Try disconnecting the internet, then launch the Enpass app and observe if the app is still crashing for you. If it is not crashing, then while the internet is disconnected, try removing the cloud account you are using for synchronization, enable the internet and re-launch Enpass to check if the app is still crashing. Also share the cloud service you are using to synchronize your data.
Kilo Foxtrot Mike Posted September 7, 2023 Author Report Posted September 7, 2023 Well I don't think it's crashing as I don't get that "App quit unexpectedly" popup window. I have just updated the app to version 6.9.0 (1466) from the Mac App Store. My OS is Ventura 13.5.1. Is there a way to enable logging for Enpass? Does it write logs somewhere? It seems to be "closing" at random. I'm currently using OneDrive for sync.
Abhishek Dewan Posted September 8, 2023 Report Posted September 8, 2023 Hi @Kilo Foxtrot Mike Since you mentioned that the app is closing at random interval, I would highly recommend checking out this link and try changing the auto lock behavior from the provided options according to your preference.
Kilo Foxtrot Mike Posted September 11, 2023 Author Report Posted September 11, 2023 The app is not closing due to auto-lock, the app is quitting altogether and doesn't appear in Activity Monitor. Anyway, I had to apply some macOS updates which required a reboot to apply. It appears the reboot has seemed to fix the issue and so far Enpass is still running and hasn't quit for the past few days. FIngers crossed it stays this way!
