[Solved] [Linux] Enpass >= 6.1.1 freezing in Ubuntu

Featured Replies

I'm using Enpass 6.1.0.407 which is the latest version that works properly for me. Both 6.1.1.451 and 6.2.0.537 tend to lock up or take a very long amount of time (minutes) when searching and displaying an entry. The UI just locks up and it takes quite some time to come back. All issues are gone once I switched back to 6.1.0.407

I'm running Ubuntu Budgie 19.04 on X11.

Please advise

Similar problem... Ubuntu 19.10 . how do I get the older version which works?

On 64-bit Linux Mint 19.2 "Tina" (Cinnamon), I followed the Enpass instructions for adding an apt source and installing Enpass (this installed version 6.2.0.537). After experiencing same/similar problems as the topic starter, I did this at a terminal (Bash shell) to downgrade to an older version (6.1.0.407, specifically)*:

Quit/kill Enpass:

$ pkill -i enpass

Remove Enpass:

$ sudo apt-get purge enpass

Search for available Enpass packages:

$ apt-cache madison enpass

Install specific version of Enpass:

$ sudo apt-get install enpass=6.1.0.407

To avoid upgrading Enpass during an apt-get update/upgrade:

$ sudo apt-mark hold enpass

If/when you no longer need to keep a specific version:

$ sudo apt-mark unhold enpass

*Worked for me; YMMV.

A reaction from the developers sure would have been nice. ¬¬

Hi @Bebef,

Please help us with the following info:

  • Number of items and vaults in Enpass.
  • Are you using any cloud services to sync?
  • Did you change Enpass database location?

Thanks.

Edited by Kashish

This happens with 1 item stored locally or 300 items stored on dropbox .

The firefox extension works fine however.

Thank You..

Have a similar Problem on Ubuntu Budgie 18.04
Newest version from ppa works nice, browser extension works as well. But Copying a password via the Copy button and then pasting it will not paste anything. Copying manually is not possible anymore either, because the password cannot be marked anymore.

So for now I have to manually type Passwords.
Have openend an email query regarding this and been told the team is working on it.
Seems to be the same problem multiple users face on MacOs.

clarified Ubuntu Budgie instead of just Budgie

I had this exact same problem on Ubuntu 18.04.3.

Thank you Monyker - your solution works great for me.

@Kashish, I am sync'ing to Drive, I have one vault, and I have 177 items.

Any updates on this?

@Kashish Although others already answered this: 600+ items, sync via WebDAV, no change of location.

All other platforms are on 6.3.x already, I wonder why Linux still is on 6.2.0... o.O

@Kashish How far may versions diverge and still sync properly?

Thanks

Still nothing?

I chose Enpass for the support of Linux. However, I wonder whether there actually is support for Linux... :/

Hey @Bebef,

I apologise for the delay in response. Our QA team was unable to reproduce the issue earlier. We're gonna check it again and update you with the results. However, could you please try disabling the sync and then set it up again with the same account to check if that fixes the issue.

Thanks.

Hey @Bebef,

Our QA team has replicated the issue and we're working towards a fix. We'll be updating this space with updates on the issue.

Thanks.

Thank you so much for this. Rolling back the version work for me as well. Hopefully the developers can figure out what is different in their new versions that is causing the problem.

I am having exactly the same problem on POP_OS! 19.04 which is based on Ubuntu. It worked fine a few months ago but now its freezing when I try to scroll the list of entries or type anything in the search text box.

Hey @Dori,

Thanks for sharing the issue.

Did you try updating Enpass to the latest version 6.3.3 and compare results?

Meanwhile, our team is already fixing the bug causing the lag in displaying search results.

Thanks.

I already tried 6.3.3 and the issue still is the same.

I can confirm that the issues seem to be fixed in the 6.4.0.627 beta version.

Hi @Bebef,

We are glad to know that the issue has been resolved. If you have additional feedback regarding the latest Beta version, you could let us know.
