Hello,

i use Enpass since years on Windows 10 and Android without problems. Now i'm on the way to use Linux. I have set up a pc with Linux Mint 22 and installed Enpass and it works like a charm.

Now i have installed Enpass on another pc with Linux mint 22 (via apt-get) and it won't work.

After install, Enpass ask for setup a synchronization. Here i choose "WebDav" (which works on all other machines), and enter the credentials for the webdav server.

Then Enpass wrote that it has found a vault in the webdav-folder and i should provide the master-password. But here, it says always "Wrong password".

I have entered this password in a textfile, so i can see it, and tested the same password with the synchronization on the other machine (works!), so it is proved, that the password is correkt.

Same behaviour if i try to restore a backup or use a wifi-sync-server.

I'm out of ideas.

Does someone have a idea, what else i can do?

Best Regards

Frank

It seems that there might be another vault file created on your WebDAV server, which is causing the master password prompt for a different vault. I recommend the following steps:

  1. Verify Vault Connection: Ensure that the vault you are trying to connect to on the new Linux machine is the same as the one synced on your other devices.

  2. Backup and Reconnect:

    • Take the latest backup of your data from the device where everything is working properly.
    • Delete the Enpass database file from the WebDAV server.
    • Reconnect your vault to the WebDAV server from the working device.
    • After that, attempt to reconnect your vault on the new Linux machine and other devices.

This should help resolve the issue. Let me know if you need further assistance.

I am having a similar issue using Zorin OS, on my first VMware installation I somehow got Enpass to link to my Dropbox sync location. It took allot of effort but I am unable to replicate the solution. I am able to install Enpass and log into my lifetime-pass account. Enpass then asks me to log into my cloud storage account, I do so, a web page pops up, in Firefox (I also tried Chromium) I log into my Dropbox account and hit the Approve button (twice actually-every attempt) Enpass pops back up and looks like it is trying to connect but after about 10 minutes it fails and says try again. I have checked my Dropbox/Apps/Enpass folder and verified that there is only one vault there. On Dropbox I tried deleting all my installed apps including Enpass and that didn't do anything more than log me out of my other linked devices. I also tried backing up my Enpass vault, copying it over to Zorin, loading a file in Enpass and entering my vault password, all my passwords become available. But I am still not able to connect with my online account. I also tried logging into Google-drive, with the same issue. I kind of assume that the browser isn't really passing the verification back to Enpass but I can't confirm that. It's most likely a permissions issue in Linux but I can't fine anyone talking about that online.  I am currently making a backup of my 207gb, working VMware installation of Zorin and am planning to install it over the hard drive (MVMe) installation. Even though I assume that will work, I would still like to know why this process is so hit or miss.

Update: I found the solution. 1st uninstall the Enpass app from the builtin app store. 2nd install Enpass from the Enpass.io web site. just copy and paste each line below into the terminal one at a time, problem solved.

echo "deb https://apt.enpass.io/ stable main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/enpass.list

wget -O - https://apt.enpass.io/keys/enpass-linux.key | sudo apt-key add -

sudo apt update

sudo apt install enpass

Hello,

sorry for the late answer.

I've done the following:

- Deleted the (one and only) enpassdbsync-File on the WebDav-Server

- uninstalled the enpass app

- re-installed the enpass app with the commands provided by kurtedward

- Entered the data for the WebDav-Access

- Enpass app found the vault and wants the master password

- Entered the Masterpassword and ... BÄM ! "Wrong password"

- Typed this text until this line above

- Tried again to connect to the vault without changing the text in the password field

- "Your data were restored successfully" (originally in german...)

- But Enpass is empty. If i try to connect again to the webdav server i got the error message "There can only be one standard vault"

I have only one vault, not multiple.

And it is only this one pc, where Enpass didn't work. I have other computers (with Linux Mint 22, same as on the "failing" installation, Android, Windows 10) and it works everywhere, only on this machine here it fails.

What else can i do?

Best Regards

Frank

Please follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. On the device where the WebDAV-connected vault is working correctly, create a manual backup of your Enpass data.

  2. Close the Enpass application completely on your Linux Mint system (you can use Ctrl+Q to quit the app).

  3. Go to the Documents folder on your Linux system and rename the existing Enpass folder.

  4. Open Enpass on your Linux system and restore the vault using the backup file you created in Step 1.

  5. After the data is successfully restored, reconnect the vault to the WebDAV server.
