Can't Run Enpass Since 6.11.0 Update

Recommended Posts

Upgraded to 6.11.0 and now Enpass won't start. I'm on Win10 Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045.

Event viewer says:

I'm currently on the version installed from the Windows Store, but it originally failed like this after I upgraded from the version downloaded from enpass.io. Earlier today the Enpass download website said that the store version was 6.10.x, so I was hoping to revert to the previous version by installing from the Store, but it seems the Store version is now also 6.11.0.

I'm dead in the water. I've rebooted multiple times, reinstalled, run CHKDSK /F, and tried to repair my registry. Nothing works.

Here are the Event Viewer errors I originally got after upgrading using the version downloaded from the Enpass download site:

Windows cannot access the file for one of the following reasons: there is a problem with the network connection, the disk that the file is stored on, or the storage drivers installed on this computer; or the disk is missing. Windows closed the program Enpass Password Manager because of this error.

Program: Enpass Password Manager
File:

The error value is listed in the Additional Data section.
User Action
1. Open the file again. This situation might be a temporary problem that corrects itself when the program runs again.
2. If the file still cannot be accessed and
	- It is on the network, your network administrator should verify that there is not a problem with the network and that the server can be contacted.
	- It is on a removable disk, for example, a floppy disk or CD-ROM, verify that the disk is fully inserted into the computer.
3. Check and repair the file system by running CHKDSK. To run CHKDSK, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /F, and then press ENTER.
4. If the problem persists, restore the file from a backup copy.
5. Determine whether other files on the same disk can be opened. If not, the disk might be damaged. If it is a hard disk, contact your administrator or computer hardware vendor for further assistance.

I also have the same problem with Windows 10, it has been updated and now it does not start. I have uninstalled enpass and reinstalled it but it doesn't solve it.

I have the same problem on a Windows 10 computer since the last Microsoft Store update.
It appears to open briefly, then closes or crashes. I tried a Repair and Reset, but it didn't work. I tried an uninstall, then reinstall, and that didn't work either.

I've restored a system image and won't update it again until this problem is fixed.

I'm starting to think that it would be safer to return to the legacy desktop app. When things go wrong with a modern UWP app, they can be very difficult to fix. Desktop apps are much easier to fix.

This is not the first time that people have been locked out of Enpass with the modern app.
Password managers need to be reliable.

I have already passed on the relevant details to Enpass Technical Team regarding the reported issues. We will give you further updates when a fix is available.
In the meantime, as an workaround, you might like to download the previous version of Enpass app to avoid any of your work related delays https://dl.enpass.io/stable/windows/setup/6.10.3.1683/Enpass-setup.exe
