  1. Hi Enpassians! We know our Portable users have been waiting to get the v6 update quite a long time as they are facing compatibility issues with the data on v5 of Portable Apps and v6 of the Stable apps. I am sorry that took it more time than expected as we were busy in improving and stabilizing the v6, but it's finally here! The first beta of Enpass v6 for the Portable apps has been out, and you can get it from the download links given later in the post. The complete changelog for this beta is: What’s New Multiple Vaults: We are very excited to have the support of more than one vault in Enpass to collaborate with our family and team members, keeping our personal data separate in Primary vault. It was one of the most demanded features from you guys. You can share a vault with others by syncing through a common cloud account where each vault need a distinct cloud account to sync. Just go ahead, and give it a try! Secure Sharing: Every single item that you want to share with others can now be encrypted with a passphrase (call it Pre-Shared Key). You can create PSKs from the Advanced Settings of Enpass after which an additional option to Encrypt with PSK will appear while sharing the item. You need to share the PSK prior with the intended recipient to enable them to import in their Enpass. Please use a different medium to share the PSK than you’ll use to share the item. -“Keys are always kept hidden from the locks” ;-). Enpass Assistant: The minified Enpass is now called Enpass Assistant (Formerly Helper). It offers excellent autofilling experience with browser extensions, and you can invoke it from a Keyboard shortcut or System Menu bar. Always run Enpass Assistant in docked mode: From now onwards, you can stick the Enpass Assistant on the screen, and it won’t disappear when you click outside it. You can enable it from Enpass General settings under the Behavior section. Also, once the Enpass Assistant is opened, you can use the Keyboard shortcut Shift+Ctrl+ D to stick it on the screen. Keyfile Support: You want to have a super-duper strong master password, huh! Yeah, but memory has a limit to memorize it. No worries, you can use Enpass 6 to let you use Enpass-Keyfile in addition to your master password as a second factor required to unlock the Enpass on every platform. Custom Icons: Let’s you set any image as an icon for an item. Trash & Archive: You know what to do with Trash. Archive those unwanted items which should be skipped while Searching. Identities: Create identities with personal information for auto-filling long, tedious sign-up forms with a single click. Multi-Line Field: It’s a new field type where you can save data in multiple-lines. History of Every Field: Like password fields, you can now see the history of changes in every kind of fields in an item except Notes. Dark theme: Added support for dark mode on macOS Mojave and Linux. A separate section under the ‘Groups’ tab to have a quick look at all TOTPs & Attachments. Added localization support for Afrikaans, Malay, Croatian, Hungarian, Indonesian, Romanian, Slovak and Swedish. Improvements Improved Security: The real stuff!! Enpass 6 comes with far better protection for your data. Check out more about Security on our website. Browser Extensions: The improved browser extensions now offer better auto-filling, auto-capturing, and security. Enpass extension can now autofill in pages with more than two fields. Also, while setting up the first connection with a browser, you would need to pair that first. Tags: Folders in previous Enpass were more or liked Tags, and so we have renamed them to Tags. And yes, they are nested too. Checking Pwned Passwords for Complete Database: Say goodbye to the hassle of checking every single password for pwnage, now you can review the passwords in your entire database with a single click. Improved Password generator and more brutal strength estimator. Again, Security Matters the most! Password Expiry: From now onwards you can set an expiry date to any password field and check for them from the ‘Audit’ tab when they are going to expire. Eight digits TOTP support. Unlike the older version, Password generator has no limitation of five passwords in history. Known Issues: Remember Location: After every fresh start, the app will ask you to select the data location even if you have previously clicked 'Remember Location.' iCloud Synchronization: The Portable versions are missing the iCloud option for the synchronization. Translations: Some strings might be not be localized in the supported languages. For Linux users running 16.04: The app icon isn't displayed in the launcher. For macOS users: Missing the Categories list, and item's icon: After the initial launch of Enpass Portable, the app may not show the Categories List or item's icon. Workaround: Copy the extracted enpassportable and paste it in a new folder or location. Now open the app and it will show the list and icons as expected. Using Safari 12 or later versions: Unfortunately, the Enpass extension for Safari will not work with the Portable versions. The reason is that the Safari App Extension is bound with the app installation. But for Portable versions, there is no such app installation. Workaround: Use any other supported browsers. Download Links Before installing the Beta version, please read the Enpass Portable User Guide. For Linux (.tar.gz): Enpass Portable Beta v6.0.7 For Windows and macOS (.zip): Enpass Portable Beta v6.0.7 Get your hands on this beta version and share your valuable feedback. If there are other improvements you’d like to see, please leave a comment below. Cheers!
  2. Hi there, is Enpass Portable (beta 6) still working? I can't sync with my OneDrive anymore (the same vault in my home Windows PC and Android 9). I reseted (both, PC and Portable) but Portable creates a new Enpass folder in OneDrive.
  3. Hello, I can't find a newer version of Enpass portbale for Windows in the enpass web site. The last version that I downloaded was v5.6.9. The current version for Windows (not portable) is v6.0.4. Has the portable version of Enpass been discontinued?. I'll appreciate your comments. Thank you.
  4. im really disappointed in Enpass. I did not know, that Enpass 6 is not compatible with Enpass 5 (and therefore portable version). In no press release was mentioned this problem. No i used the apps (installation + portable on a work laptop) parallel for the last 3 weeks and found out just now. now i have 2 databases syncing, and also different login details in different vaults, because sometimes i added a new login on the work computer which has not been synced to my private computer with the installed update and vice versa.... now i can manually sit down and sort which login detail from the portable app i need to migrate to enpass 6 vault on my private computer.. Way to much hazzle i stopped using Enpass and switched back to lastpass This was a very bad move from Enpass. Sad!
  5. Currently (Jan 8, 2017), there is a 5.4 release for Mac and Windows and Linux, but the "Portable" version of EnPass is still at version 5.3 Does the Portable version need an update? Release notes ( https://www.enpass.io/release-notes/macosx and https://www.enpass.io/release-notes/windowspc/ ) seem to suggest no "major" issues missing from Portable, but I'm still left wondering.
  6. Enpass Portable and OneDrive Hi, i don't know whether this is a feature request, a bug report or a total lack of understanding on my side... i want to use enpass on my work laptop which uses windows 7 and will soon be upgraded to windows 10. Since it's work i can't just install things. So i want to use the portable version, which seems to work fine. But i cant choose onedrive (yes, i use several devices with macOS, IOS, android, windows). So i thought I'm a clever guy and mount my onedrive as a WebDAV (which works fine in windows explorer). But trying to open the Enpass-folder on OneDrive gives me an error saying the data is inaccessible. What am I doing wrong here? again, i can easily read and write data within the WebDAV-folder that i mounted as a drive via https://d.docs.live.net/CID as officially described i also tried the absolute path with the \\d.docs.live.net@SSL\CID\Enpass which again works flawlessly with windows explorer so please implement support for this :-) (or fix the bug or brighten me up on why it is works-as-designed)
  7. This has been brought up in the past but I'm a little stunned that it hasn't be requested more frequently. I have a requirement to be able to provide a simple one or two step process to allow individuals that have been provided with USB keys to have access to a number of accounts and secure notes. The fact that the portable version brings up a "nag screen" requiring the user to specify a path every time it is ran is unfortunately a really terrible blocker for me being able to move to Enpass from IronKey's (hardware encryption.) It adds an unnecessary step that really hurts the simplicity of use. Some ideas on implementation: If the config file is found in the current working directory of the executable (which should be a dotfile on OS X and linux in my opinion e.g. .enpass.conf) then parse out a KVP from the config file that specifies a path (relative or full) to the walletx.db for each platform release. OSX/Windows FAT16/32 config: =========================== [General] osxCustomDataPath=./data/ winCustomDataPath=.\data\ Linux config: ============= lnxCustomDataPath=/media/USB_Disk_FAT32 This would hide the config (if it were a dotfile) and allow a USB key to store configuration on the relative or full path to the walletx.db. This would allow for an extremely clean portable installation that would work on partitioned keys and across all platforms as far as I can tell, and eliminate a step that should be totally unnecessary (prompting for the path to the walletx.db and storing a recent paths file in the home directory.) If these changes were implemented I think you would find a surprising increase in downloads over time. Thanks, Steve
  8. Hi While using Enpass Portable for Linux I found out that it is not possible to start the app if it is in a path that contains any space charaters.
  9. I'm loving Enpass and would appreciate a portable version of the desktop manager that can be used without administrative privileges (for those of us who want to use in an environment without such privileges - i.e. at work or at a library). I don't think that's counter-intuitive to the basis for EPM - i.e. to store passwords locally - as I believe those could be stored on a USB and/or synced/pulled with/from one's cloud storage syncing solution of choice. Please consider
  10. Hi folks! We have just rolled out the much awaited Beta update of Enpass Portable for all the desktop platforms. The complete changelog of this beta v5.5.4 (24) is here: WHAT'S NEW Attachment support: Yes, you got it right, from now on, you can attach files to Enpass. So let it be anything, the snap of your Credit Card, Passport, key files etc., that should not be stored unencrypted to your device can find a secure place inside Enpass keychain. Quick PIN support: Set an alphanumeric PIN to quickly unlock Enpass if the App is already running in the background, otherwise, master password will be required. Touch ID and Touch bar support: Now unlock the Enpass with your fingerprint on the Touch ID-supported MacBook Pro. Also, you will see the enhanced controls in the Touch Bar of your New MacBook Pro. (Mac only) CSV/DSV import: If you’re having your passwords and login details in CSV or any other delimiter separated file, you can now import them in Enpass using the all new custom CSV/DSV data importer. zxcvbn will show the strength of password: We have empowered the password strength indicator with Dropbox zxcvbn to check you from choosing weak passwords. Selective field sharing: Sharing has gone better with an option to choose the fields to be shared rather than the whole item. So now you can share your bank details with anyone by removing login and other sensitive details. Cool, huh! Subset of password: It lets you see certain characters in password specified by position, for example, "1st, 3rd, next-to-last, last" by just mentioning their position in a specified format. A better way to organize items: You can now create sub-folders by right clicking on parent folder in sidebar with an additional feature to move subfolders among parent folders by ‘drag n drop’. We have also improved the drag ’n’ drop behavior for moving items between categories and folders where now you also get the option of copying them (instead of moving only) by pressing and holding the ‘option’ key. More auto-locking options: Added various auto-locking options under security settings of Enpass to lock on system sleep, screensaver, and Fast-user switching. (Mac only) IMPROVEMENTS: Setting up a shortcut for auto-filling: We have changed the way you used to setup the shortcut key for auto-filling in browsers. Now instead of defining it in main Enpass App, you have to configure it in your browser extensions independently. Improved behavior of copying to Clipboard: Now Enpass copies text on clipboard with a tag, protecting the data from being read from clipboard by any other app. (Mac only) FIXES: Sync with WedDAV: Enpass will now show a security warning message (while syncing) to those users who have configured their WebDAV/ownCloud server using a self-signed certificate, and they have to disconnect and set up sync again. Launching of wrong URL from helper: There was an issue with the items having multiple URLs, where, when a user tried to launch the second URL from Helper window (as one displayed on clicking extension icon), the first URL was always launched. Fixed. ERROR -120: Fixed an issue where Enpass shows error -120 while syncing esp. when the system wakes from sleep. Hiding of title bar of Enpass' settings window: Fixed an issue where the setting window of Enpass was presented in such a way that the title bar of setting window went out of scope of top limit of screen. This used to happen when the title bar of Enpass was already near the top of screen and then the settings-window's title bar was appearing just above that with no access to window controls. (Windows only) Problem while establishing connection to extension on Mac having multiple users: Clicking on extension icon was throwing Error (403 or unverified browser) as it was trying to connect with Enpass App executed by another user (in case a user has just fast-switched from another user account). It was not the expected behavior for the user who hasn’t actually installed Enpass App in his account. Fixed. (Mac only) Now the High DPI support will be enabled by default, which you can turn off in the advance section of the Enpass settings,if required. Fixed an issue where some users had to face Error 403 in using Enpass Extension in the 64-bits Browsers. Fixes an issue of high CPU usage while syncing with WebDAV. Another issue while importing from generic CSV/DSV was encountered when the data contains special German letters. Fixed. Fixed an issue when syncing with Google Drive used to stop due to the creation of multiple database files in Drive. Now sync will continue to function with the latest Enpass database. Expect more improvements to come in future builds. An issue where enabling sync with WebDAV/OwnCloud was stuck at connecting has been fixed. Autosave dialog of Enpass helper used to behaving aberrantly by fluctuating once from localized to English language. Fixed. Fixed an issue while importing TOTP fields from 1Password. Memory cleanup for added security of data. Fixed an issue while importing data from Lastpass. Other minor improvements and fixes. Important Notes: Enpass Portable will run as a separate application that will not interfere with your existing Enpass app. For New users only: Before using the Portable version, we would recommend you to please go through the instructions mentioned in the Getting_Started pdf file available in the downloadable zip. Download link The downloadable zip file consists of Executable packages and a Getting_Started.pdf file for installation and usage instructions. Download for Mac & Windows Download for Linux (64 bit only) So what are you waiting for. Get your hands on this major Beta release and share your feedback. Also don't forget to highlight the bugs or issues and keep the dice rolling. Cheers!
  11. Just wanted to get a hint on how everybody else is using Enpass and at the same time show my setup. I use an USB-wristband for portability. I've got one layer of bitlocker using aes128 autounlock with tpm) and within that the walletx with its own aes256. Instead of the Enpass Portable I've got Enpass desktop installed on my three PCs pointing to an USB drive. That way I split up meta settings for Enpass in the registry and vault on a removable drive. Also when frequently synchronizing, the performance is better when executables that aren't secret reside on a local drive. I use cloud sync, so local backup isn't necessary. I only mount the USB stick and vault when required, and never run Enpass in the background. Critical secrets like Google or Microsoft are not stored in the vault, only their TOTP.
  12. Hi, My Enpass database is hosted on an external ownCloud account and is synced between multiple iOS and OSX devices which works fine. Now I tried to use Enpass Portable on a Windows 7 PC without admin rights. Syncing works fine so far but none of the attachments in the database will be synced to this portable installation. Furthermore the portable Version itself does not offer a field for attachments. Is it a bug or a feature ? Unfortunatelly I can't use it without this functionality. Cheers, Ralf
  13. So i want to use enpass portable but i have a few questions. What i don't understand is this, Enpass portable is just an app whose executable files just lie in the usb flash drive in order for you not having to install it every time in every new computer and only to launch it directly from the usb? Why does Enpass portable need to save my Enpass database in a ceratin location in the computer? What happens to those files saved from Enpass portable if i remove my enpass portable usb? Does Enpass portable always need to load my passwords from the cloud in new computers, because it is self understanding that in new and temporary computers i have no record of my password database. If so that is a huge problem because the password of my cloud account is saved only on enpass and i cannot remember it, thus making my access inside my passwords database impossible? If i chose to save a backup file inside the USB flash drive in order for my password database to be accessible from Enpass portable, than how safe is it? Are any of the passwords even saved on the USB drive? I believe that Enpass needs to address a lot of questions like these, by improving its "Getting started guide for Enpass portable" and making it more user friendly, and also improving the UI of the "Welcome to Enpass portable" screen by making it more helpful and easier to understand and navigate. And also why don't i see an option to restore data from iCloud? I would appreciate any response to this matter.
  14. Hi there, I am using EnpassPortable 5.3.0 on a Windows 7 64 Bit PC. Every time i try to search for something, the whole application freezes for about 10-20 seconds. This can get quite annoying as you can imagine ;-) The system is powerful enough (Intel Core i5 3,1 GHz, 8 GB RAM) and all other apps are running fine. Any solutions/fixes? Should i provide more info? Best regards Jan
  15. 1. Get rid of notifications that the program is still available in the notification area. I have disabled the notifications in Windows, but once I updated the program, notifications are back. Please let me disable notifications from inside the program. 2. Open the full program from notification area. Maybe allow single and double click to perform a specific action? Single click open the mini search window, double click or middle click to open the main program. Just noticed you can double click to open the main program, but I still think custom actions to choose middle click to open the main window would be nice. 3. Custom icons for entries. 4. Custom categories, and custom icons. Some colored icons would be nice. 5. The one thing I loved about Lastpass, and Dashlane seems to be ignoring, is equivalent domains. Example: Toronto Public Library has their main website torontopubliclibrary.ca, but they also have their online website toronto.libraryreserve.com, which uses the same credentials. It'd be great to login to both without having separate credentials. Didn't see the url custom field. I'm officially on board with Enpass. 6. Portable version. I know it's been discussed in other threads, and I would be super happy to see this. I must say though, this program is incredible in most areas. Secret question and answer field, custom fields, TOTP, and the minimalist design, good job developers.
