metropical Posted December 12, 2023 Report Posted December 12, 2023 both macs have the same version, 6.9.2, but are on diff OS, if that matters. Both are on same local wifi. Firewall is set to pass Enpass data. But the method to sync as described on the webpage goes nowhere. Neither install sees the other vault. What am I doing wrong.?
metropical Posted December 13, 2023 Author Report Posted December 13, 2023 really? does this mean enpass doesn't sync yet in macos?
Mohit Thapa Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 I would suggest you disconnect the Wifi-Sync server from the connected devices and set it up by following the steps in the link- https://www.enpass.io/wifi-sync/ or manually by following the steps in this link - https://www.enpass.io/wifi-sync-manual-setup/ Ensure that you have allowed access to Enpass in your Firewall/Antivirus Settings. Moreover, if you are using any VPN service, try disabling it to check if the issue persists. You can also refer to this highly useful troubleshooting guide in case you get the same error after creating a manual Wifi-sync server - https://www.enpass.io/troubleshooting-wifi-sync/ Otherwise, create a manual backup of your Enpass data and then reinstall the app on the affected device.
SebastianSimon Posted January 10, 2024 Report Posted January 10, 2024 Where do I find the wifisyncserver_bin, please? It is not in the applications folder.
David Gerety Posted September 19, 2024 Report Posted September 19, 2024 I have been trying to get Wi-Fi Sync to work for a few years. The only way I can get it to work between my iPad and my Mac is to delete Enpass from my iPad, download from the App Store and scan the QR code. Then it will Sync for a few changes or additions to the password manager. But then it will fail to sync again. Both computers are on the same network, both are running the latest version of Enpass. Mac has just added a new Password Manager in OS Sequoia and IOS 18. I don't know if it's as secure as Enpass, but it might be worth looking into.
Amandeep Kumar Posted September 24, 2024 Report Posted September 24, 2024 Since you've had some success after reinstalling the app, it suggests a temporary disruption in the sync process. Could you please try the following steps: Restart both your iPad and Mac. On your Mac, go to Settings -> Wi-Fi Sync and ensure that Wi-Fi Sync is enabled. On your iPad, go to Settings -> Wi-Fi Sync and make sure it's connected to the correct server. If the issue persists, could you check for any firewall or network restrictions that might be affecting the connection? As for the new Password Manager on Mac OS Sequoia and iOS 18, it's always a good idea to explore alternatives, but rest assured that Enpass remains a robust and secure solution for managing your passwords.
David Gerety Posted September 30, 2024 Report Posted September 30, 2024 Thank you for your suggestion. I have rebooted both machines. Wi-fi sync worked immediately after deleting and reinstalling the app on my iPad. Today I added a new entry on my Mac. It did not sync, and now I'm getting the same error message: Sync Error. Couldn't connect to Wi-Fi Sync Server. Make sure that server is running and you are connected to the same network. There doesn't seem to be a firewall setting in IOS 18, and Enpass has full permission on my Mac's firewall. Since I haven't made any changes to either computers' setup, I don't see how it could sync after the reinstallation but not a few days later. It appears that I am not the only user experiencing this issue. Fortunately, I don't make changes often to Enpass, so it's not a big problem to delete and reinstall to my iPad after making a few changes. However, I would hesitate to recommend Enpass to others. Kind regards, David
Tarun Singh Rawat Posted October 13, 2024 Report Posted October 13, 2024 I've reported this issue to the technical team. They are currently investigating it, and I will reach out to you with updates as soon as I receive them. #SI-4062
David Gerety Posted October 15, 2024 Report Posted October 15, 2024 Thank you. I had to delete the app and reinstall it over the weekend on two iPads after making two database changes. It will sync as it should for a short while but then fail again.
Tarun Singh Rawat Posted October 16, 2024 Report Posted October 16, 2024 @David Gerety Please make sure the Enpass app is running on your laptop while you sync the vault on your iPad. Note: We've released the latest version (6.11.4) of the Enpass app for Mac, so please update your device to this version. Additionally, could you confirm the following details? Are you using the Enpass app from our website or the App Store on your Mac? Please share the Enpass version and OS version for all the devices you’re using (and specify the device names).
David Gerety Posted November 4, 2024 Report Posted November 4, 2024 Hello, I am watching the screen of my iPad as I type this. 'Synchronizing...' was showing for about three minutes, and then changed to 'Couldn't connect to Wi-Fi Server. Make sure that server is running and you are connected to same network'. My iPad is on my desk, less than two feet from my Mac Mini. On the Mini's monitor, I am looking at Enpass v6.11.4, which I downloaded from your website. My iPad is also running v6.11.4, also from your website. I also have my wife's iPad. It is also running v6.11.4, downloaded from your website. It was showing 'Synchronizing...' for a few minutes and then changed to the same error message. If I delete the Enpass app from both iPads, then reinstall from your website, Sync will work just fine for a day or two, but that's it. My Mac Mini is new and using M2 Pro chip, and OS 15.1 My iPad Air is 5th gen. and running IOS 18.1 My wife's iPad mini is 6th gen and running IOS 17.6.1
Tarun Singh Rawat Posted November 26, 2024 Report Posted November 26, 2024 The technical team is investigating the issue and working on a solution. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve it.
Tarun Singh Rawat Posted December 6, 2024 Report Posted December 6, 2024 It seems the problem is related to the "Local Network Privacy" permission settings introduced in recent versions of macOS and iOS. To resolve this, please follow the steps below: Enable Local Network Access For macOS: Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network. Locate Enpass in the list and enable access. Restart the Wi-Fi sync server and Enpass app. For iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Local Network. Find Enpass and toggle access to "On." Restart the Enpass app Once done, try syncing again using Wi-Fi sync to verify if the issue is resolved.
David Gerety Posted December 9, 2024 Report Posted December 9, 2024 Thanks, but this doesn't work. My Privacy & Security settings are as shown above. I turned off and restarted the Wi-fi Sync Server on my Mac (OS 15.1.1) and then watched the Synchronizing icon for 10 minutes before it quit and showed this familiar message. Then, as I have done many times before, I deleted Enpass from my iPad (IOS 18.1.1) and reinstalled it. As expected, it instantly synchronized a test entry, and it will likely continue to sync for hours or even a day or two, before failing again. I have begun adding passwords to the new Apple Password Manager, as the Enpass issue is now over two years old. I will continue using Enpass as long as I don't add new entries. But I think it's only a matter of time before I abandon the app.
