Thanks for the welcome, although I would rather not have been here ;)

I uninstalled the Windows Store version completely and tried to reinstall it from the Store. It immediately triggered McAfee again and made the install useless. So I had to uninstall again and tried installing the desktop windows version from your site. This didn't result in any errors so I could now use Enpass again.

On your questions, my laptop and McAfee are managed by my employer so i can not exclude Enpass from McAfee detection nor do I think that's a smart suggestion to make to customers.

I tried to paste the data from McAfee here but that resulted in a warning that my message was spam, so can't share that?

Assuming Sinew have proper in-house quality control (which, yes you have to take on blind faith) that would stop an infected product being uploaded to the Windows Store it does sound as though McAfee is producing a false positive, especially as other Enpass users, who again I am assuming are using other competing antivirus products, have not reported an issue.  According to an old post on the McAfee forum an item designated as an Artimis Trojan is something that the software does not recognize and maybe a possible risk, basically it is being overly protective and giving you a warning.  Excluding the items from a scan is I agree not best practice, but a quality AV solution even if an item of malware was excluded by name should then stop it making erroneous changes to the system.

Instead of pasting (was the error generated by the forum software?) the McAfee data maybe you could enter it in manually, yes I understand this would take more time and effort, but it would help the developers to be able to communicate the problem with a third party such as McAfee quickly and easily.  Long term this would help yourself, your work colleges if they too use Enpass, and the rest of the community.

    Dear Members and Garima,

Kindly I would like to inform you that I am unable to install the software. At the end I receive the error: 'Unable to locate package enpass'. The other steps did not reveal additional issues, as far as I am aware. Do you have any idea what might be going wrong and/or how to resolve the issue?

In the meantime I think that I found the issue in the first step installation. The guide suggests to use: "

    echo "deb https://apt.enpass.io/ stable main" > \

The result was that no file was made in the directory /etc/apt/source.list.d/. However, it seemed to work with "echo 'deb https://apt.enpass.io/ stable main' | tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/enpass.list" as the file was made in the directory

    Hi @Fair-Monkey

    Which distro are you using?

  3. Hi @mschuppx1

The Enpass team are going to want to know what version of Ubuntu you are running and if you have made any mods as well as the current version of Enpass you have installed.

Have you tried removing Enpass from your sources list and then adding it back?

    My entry /etc/apt/sources.list.d/enpass.list reads:

     deb https://apt.enpass.io/ stable main #Enpass

I am currently running Xubuntu 20.04.

On my PC with seperate Asus TPM 2.0 Module (Infineon) it doesnt work, after restart I have to enter the Master-Password.

Can you tell me which TPM Modul I can buy for my motherboard, that works? Thanks

    Hi @dan45

Before thinking about changing your TPM check that the firmware is up-to-date and I would suggest also resetting it.

  5. Hi @JohnHenrose

There is an installation guide here covering several platforms: https://www.enpass.io/support/kb/general/how-to-install-enpass-on-linux/

Check that you have the following library installed: libxkbcommon-x11-0

I have installed Enpass in a Deepin and it starts up. However, in my instance Enpass does not sync any items but I think this is a problem with the virtual machine rather than the package itself.  Let the forum know how you get on please.

I want to use Enpass on a second Windows PC (from work). I am redirected from your download page onto the MS Store. I spent 30mn with their support and they have not been able to help me (the "install" button does not work).

I finally found an older exe file on the net (enpass_6-3-3_fr_432677.exe) and I was hoping I could start from there and upgrade afterwards.

After installing it and trying to sync my vault from Dropbox, I got an error "error while syncing". I tried several times.

I assumed it might come from the fact that the version is too old, am I right ?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi @Dominique65

What version of Windows are you running on the second PC?

The latest Windows downloadable executable is listed as 6.4.2, but I cannot test this personally as I am running Linux: https://dl.enpass.io/stable/windows/setup/

  7. Dear Sinew Crew,

Please do not start a separate line of support on the likes of WhatsApp/Telegram.  While I use such services, and they are great for messaging they are not an improvement or replacement an upon the forum structure.

That said there are improvements I would like to see in the forum and the way you provide feedback that is for another time.

  8. Hi @John P

If you launch Enpass from the command line does it generate any error messages?

Just for comparison here is my Enpass.conf from Xubuntu 20.04:

Morning & many thanks @Dentonthebear :: I set up logging a few days before v6.4 stopped working and searched the whole /var before I downgraded to v6.3 :: of course uninstalling might have wiped the logfiles but today's double-check below. Does anyone find that reveals anything please?

Hi @Pratyush Sharma are you one of the moderators? please could you advise where the logfile is? also pl may make a feature request >> when logging is switched on I think it'd be great to have a message that informs where the logfile is saved, or even offers the user the chance to select a custom location.

    Hi @whyglobaleyes

Your suggestion of being informed when the log files are created when you enable logging is a good idea.  The way I understand it is that if logging is enabled and one is created when you next start up Enpass a message is displayed offering to send the log file.  This is great, except if you cannot start the programme in the first place.

It would be helpful for the log file location to be posted on the forum, but details like this should also be in the User Manual.

    Head. Scratched.

    Hi @whyglobaleyes

I know that the log file location has been posted somewhere on the forum, but for the life of me I cannot find the reference.  Of course, you would have had to have had logging enabled to start with!

    Try: /var/log or possibly /var/crash

Hopefully one of the moderators with post the location again here.

  11. Hi @whyglobaleyes

Not exactly the same issue but I recently did a fresh installation of Xubuntu 20.04 and ran in to the issue of Enpass not starting, and found that it was missing a library file.  If you try starting Enpass (from the location @genbushi detailed above) from the command line it may well give you some sort of clue as to what is missing.  In my case I cannot tell you the library file as I copied across the Bash history from my old system after installation.
